Welcome back. When you arrive, simply go north to the residential area, then go north to find the gates to Kilika Woods. Enter and a mission begins.
Begin by saving with the Save Sphere nearby, then go west at the first intersection. As you go, you’ll see someone run across a lot to the northeast; follow them by taking the path beneath the log at the second intersection. You’ll quickly reach another intersection; just go north there, and east at the next. You’ll be stopped by some soldiers, though, so go north after the encounter. Peek through the bushes, and simply keep peeking, after which you can safely go east again, then go south at the next intersection. At the second tree that’s curled over the water, press Circle and you can find a Megalixir . Go back to the intersection and north to the Save Sphere.
Continue along to encounter some soldiers - it’s up to you as to whether you want to fight them, in which case you should tell them something other than what we tell you. The first wave will leave if you tell them “ Craven Monkey “, and the next group with “ Carved Monkey “ (which yields a Hi-Potion ), the third by “ Craven Monkey “ (this yields an Ether ), and the final group by “ Carved Monkey “ (twice). You’ll get a Turbo Ether and the Menace of the Deep Garment Grid for avoiding the fights, too, by the way.
Continue up the stairs to find something waiting for you.

BOSS ANALYSIS : When you fight the regular form of this boss, you’ll only see two things: a basic physical and Blast Punch (no surprise to FFX’ers). The physical hits for around 50-100 damage, and Blast Punch tears off half of your max HP and induces Delay. Finally, there’s Haymaker , a high-power two-hit attack; expect a near-kill from it.
If you fight it Oversouled, it will not use either of those moves. Instead, it will noticeably switch between the use of Bio or Silence Punch for several turns at a time. These attacks will rip off 12.5% of your maximum HP, and they can induce Poison or Silence, respectively. For a brief time between the Modes, you will see Attack, Haymaker, and Blast Punch, but rather briefly.
MAIN STRATEGY : For this fight, you’ll pretty much need to open with Protect on everyone with the White Mage still casting Cura pretty much every turn. You can’t predict Haymaker or Blast Punch, and those will hurt. Beyond that bit, Power Break should help nicely to lower Haymaker’s damage a bit more, and Armor/Mental Break to increase your offense, obviously. That done, just keep someone healing every turn or two and keep up a good offense.
If you fight the Oversouled form, the same logic applies, really. We would just note that you can Poison the boss in this form (but not the regular, for some reason) to help increase its HP loss.
After the battle, you’ll end up snatching the Awesome Sphere and Chapter 1 will come to an end!
