After Jamanra thwarts your pursuit by conjuring a sandstorm you’ll be tasked with crafting the Horn of Vastiri, and numerous areas will open up to facilitate your search. As you go about your bloody business in these regions, you may find some mysterious relics, which will waste inventory space until you satisfy the rather cryptic objective to “find a use for the Relic”. This page will provide a walkthrough for the quest Ancient Vows so you can clear out your inventory, complete the quest and get the rewards you are due in Path of Exile 2!

Starting Ancient Vows¶
As mentioned above, following your fight with [Jamanra, the Risen King] your progress will be impeded by a sandstorm, and talking to your allies will start the quests A Theft of Ivory, The City of Seven Waters and A Crown of Stone, which will require you to travel to the Mastodon Badlands, the city of Keth and the Valley of the Titans, respectively. You won’t start this quest as much as you’ll stumble across it - it’ll begin when you pick up the first of the two relics you need to find.
Find the Relics¶
Finding the relics you need to start - and finish - this quest is as simple as it is random. There are two relics you need to find, the Kabala Clan Relic and the Sun Clan Relic, and these are random drops from enemies in the city of Keth and the Mastodon Badlands, respectively. You need to clear out both locations to get the components required for the Horn of Vastiri, so you’ll likely find these relics as you go about your business, but both drops are random and do not come from any specific, unique enemy. If you’re trying to beeline through the area, you might not find the relic out of sheer dumb luck, in which case you’ll need to return to the aforementioned areas and slaughter enemies until you find it. The relic drops should be hard to miss, as their item text is bright green
Once you’ve picked up a relic, other instances of the relic that may have dropped will vanish (more than one copy of a relic can be on the ground at once) and the relic will be locked into your inventory until the quest is done. You cannot stash or store these relics, but you can move them, and while they’re only 2x1 objects, that’s still space you probably want for other drops.
Find a Use for the Relic¶
Now for the “hard” part. This is a simple enough quest if you know what to do, but the game does you no favors. Either you stumble across the solution (easier to do if you just so happen to save the Valley of the Titans for last) or… well, you’re probably reading this page. After you have the two relics, head to the Valley of the Titans and clear the area. You’re looking for a massive statue with a “Medallion” option you can interact with. The bad news is there are plenty of these statues lining this valley, especially near the Ancient Seals you had to find during A Crown of Stone. The good news is this is almost always near the waypoint, so if you’ve located the waypoint on a previous trip, you can head back to it and avoid the bother of clearing the area again.
Interact with the statue and a menu will pop up, allowing you to insert the two relics you found, forming the titan’s missing medallion. Once both are inserted you’ll get to choose which medallion half you want activated. The bonuses you’ll get for each are as follows:
-
Kabala Clan Relic: 30% increased Charm Charges gained
-
Sun Clan Relic: 15% increased Mana Recovery from Flasks
Only one bonus can be active at a time, and you’ll have to return to the titan in The Valley of the Titans to manually change which one is activated. They’re not the most game-changing of boons, but they’re free and completing this quest gets the relics out of your inventory, so it’s a win-win.
