Path of Exile 2

Best Early Witch Passive Skills

By
Ben Chard

So, you’ve decided to veer on the path of necromancy, raising the dead to do your bidding as the Witch Class in Path of Exile 2? The Witch has a lot going on, be it summoning minions, making use of curses, or dipping into Blood Magic, it has it all. This page, then, will get you started on the best passive skills to aim for in the first few acts of Path of Exile 2.

The Witch has some very useful passive skills related to its Minions in Path of Exile 2.

Witch Passive Skill Choices for Act 1 and 2

As mentioned above, we’re looking at the kind of Passive Skills you should aim for in Acts 1 and 2, while still being useful in Act 3. This is mainly due to Early Access only covering these three Acts for now, and when it comes to endgame, you’re going to get more options to choose from, which we’ll cover in another page. As such, the Passive Skills below are the ones we suggest you shoot for as soon as possible:

Passive Skill Description
Raw Destruction 16% increased Spell Damage, Minions deal 16% increased damage
Power of the Dead Minions deal 15% increased Damage, Minions have 3% increased Attack and Cast Speed
Deadly Swarm Minions deal 15% increased damage, Minions have 20% increased Critical Hit Chance
Crystalline Flesh Minions have +20% to all Elemental Resistances, Minions have +5% to all Maximum Elemental Resistances
Restless Dead Minions revive 25% faster
Growing Swarm Minions have 20% increased Area of Effect, Minions have 20% increased Cooldown Recovery Rate
Vile Mending Minions have 20% increased Maximum Life, Minions regenerate 3% of Life per second, Minions have +13% to Chaos Resistance

You’ll notice a trend with what we consider the best early passive skills, and that’s the theme of your Minions. While there are other paths you can take, the Witch is still a squishy Class by nature and as such, being able to have stronger, deadlier, Minions will make a massive difference.

Most of these come naturally as you work in one direction on the tree, but you will have to take a detour when it comes to Deadly Swarm, heading south on the tree rather than north where the remaining skills we have you grab are. This is well worth it though, Deadly Swarm is a fantastic passive that will see a significant increase into the damage output of your Minions.

Crystalline Flesh, Restless Dead, and Growing Swarm are also very handy, as they are all on the same wheel and you can unlock all three of them around the same time, which adds to the overall survivability of your Minions, great timing then, as you enter the later Acts and your resistances drop. Finally, Vile Mending will come quite late, but it’s another one that massively boosts how sturdy your Minions are.

There you have it; you now know the best early game passive skills to aim for as a Witch. While you can get more specialized, especially for specific builds, these core fundamentals will serve you in making the most out of any Minion-based Witch Build.
