Path of Exile 2

Legacy of the Vaal - Mighty Silverfist Boss Guide

By
Nathan Garvin

Strength isn’t everything… but it’s not nothing, either, and if you’ve got enough raw power, it might just be enough to be dangerous! Deep in some jungle ruins the Mighty Silverfist reigns supreme, and with a combination of muscle and ruthless aggression (and a big ass stone pillar!) this mighty primate seeks to defend his dominant spot atop the jungle hierarchy from all challengers! This page will provide strategies for defeating the Mighty Silverfist in Path of Exile 2.

Page Breakdown

Mighty Silverfist Location

You’ll find this foe in some jungle ruins in the… Jungle Ruins area. Like with most optional bosses, the Mighty Silverfist’s location is random, and you’d do well to look for the set piece arena where the boss spawns rather than the boss itself. In this case this is extra easy, as the ruins the Mighty Silverfist rules over are quite large and, unlike the jungle surrounding it, there aren’t many trees growing among the ruins. If you see a clearing cluttered with ruins, you’re probably at the Mighty Silverfist’s location. Try to clear the area out, as normal monsters spawn around and within the ruins, and the last thing you need when fighting a bruiser like the Mighty Silverfist are mobs getting in your way! You also might want to search the perimeter of the ruins to find a checkpoint - there’s bound to be one here, and if you make one mistake against this boss it could kill you. Best you respawn nearby than somewhere further away in the jungle.

Mighty Silverfist Boss Strategy

The Mighty Silverfist is an interesting boss in that he can prove incredibly dangerous despite being located in a large arena, having few attacks and being completely melee-oriented. The Mighty Silverfist achieves this through sheer damage output - his Pillar Smash attack can delete 1,000~ Life in a single hit! Aside from this staggering damage output, your foe isn’t terribly nuanced - he’s got moderate health, few gimmicks, no adds, no environmental hazards, no damage-over-time effects. You either learn to dodge its attacks and avoid making too many mistakes, or you get crushed. The Mighty Silverfist’s attacks are as follows:

Pillar Swing

The Mighty Silverfist might be a brute, but it understands the concept of weaponry, bearing a massive stone pillar to battle, which it uses as a club. Its most common and basic attack is a wide, somewhat slow swing that deals heavy damage - if this attack hits, expect to lose a few hundred Life. This would be one of the more powerful attacks of previous bosses, but for the Mighty Silverfist it’s actually the least potent attack in its arsenal.

Pillar Smash

Perhaps the most powerful single attack you’ve seen in the game thus far, the Mighty Silverfist will rear back with his pillar-club and slam it on the ground in front of him, dealing stupendous damage - we’re talking 1,200 or more in a single strike. This will probably one-shot you unless you’re a physical tank, with lots of armor, life and physical damage mitigation. It also has more linear range than it appears to due to a shockwave that extends from the pillar. The Mighty Silverfist can perform this as a standalone attack, immediately following a single “Pillar Swing” with little delay between the two or at the end of a “Pillar Combo” (see below). If you’re dodging behind the Mighty Silverfist every time you see him jump or lift his club, you’ll probably be safe, but otherwise this attack is incredibly dangerous.

(1 of 3) The Mighty Silverfist is an unsubtle foe, but you don’t need to be skilled when you’re strong enough to crush foes in a single hit! His most common attack is a sweeping swing with his pillar-club,

Pillar Combo

A combination of the previous two attacks, the Mighty Silverfist will perform two spinning swings with his pillar before ending with a “Pillar Smash”. He’ll start doing this after taking some damage, and you’ll need to be prepared to keep rolling so you stay behind the boss at all times during this attack. There’s a brief pause between these attacks, so you should have time to dodge, recover and dodge again as long as you’re paying attention and ready to dodge. If you do get hit by an unexpected secondary “Pillar Swing”, that’s probably not going to jeopardize your odds too much, but you absolutely have to avoid the “Pillar Smash” at the end of this attack!

Gorilla Roll

A rather unsubtle attack, the Mighty Silverfist is aware he’s big and strong, and is more than willing to use his body as a weapon, performing a series of rolls that’ll damage you if he connects. This attack is no slouch, capable of dealing around 1,000+ damage if it connects multiple times in a single roll. It’s also fast - the Mighty Silverfist has no tell, he just leaps into the air and starts rolling. Do your best to dodge if you see him leap and if you do get hit, keep trying to dodge and hope to mitigate some of the damage.

Staying close to the Mighty Silverfist and rolling under its pillar swings and slams will serve you well, but you also have to be wary of the odd roll attack.

If you couldn’t tell from the attack descriptions, the Mighty Silverfist deals a ton of damage with pretty much all of its attacks. The natural impulse may be to keep your distance, but the Mighty Silverfist will likely prove too aggressive and determined to stay away for long, and its devastating “PIllar Smash” has surprising range. Ultimately you’re safer if you can see its attacks coming, and the absolute safest place to be is behind the Mighty Silverfist . He doesn’t have much in the way of combos or tracking, so if you can dodge roll behind your foe you probably won’t get hit. Contrary to your instincts, then, you’re better off staying right in front of the Mighty Silverfist and dodge rolling under its arms (with the goal of getting behind it) whenever it attacks. This isn’t a magic bullet - it’s “Pillar Combo” can still catch you off-guard, as can its “Gorilla Roll” attack, but staying close and rolling under its attacks should keep you safe from its “Pillar Swing” and “PIllar Smash” attacks, and that should be enough to keep you alive!

Defeat the Mighty Silverfist and he’ll drop you a Book of Specialsation - a fitting reward for such a deadly foe! Keep what you learned here in mind, too, as [another boss] in this act can be defeated in a very similar way!
