Count Geonor had you dancing at the end of a rope at the start of the game, but through dumb luck you survived and pursued the Mad Wolf all the way to the depths of his manor. At the behest of his Countess he’ll seek to finish what he started, and for your part, vengeance is at stake. This page will provide strategies for defeating Count Geonor in Path of Exile 2.

Count Geonor Location¶
The last area in the game is Ogham Manor, the comically oversized estate of Count Geonor, now filled with monstrosities. Advance through this estate, descending down to the third floor and at various points you’ll find that the interior of the manor has been gutted, revealing a dig site below. As you make your way through these areas you’ll overhear Count Geonor, and on the third floor down you’ll find a lift taking to the “arena”, where you’ll finally confront Count Geonor.
Count Geonor Boss Strategy¶
Count Geonor has two phases (and a second form - but we’ll get to that later), but he starts out fighting relatively fairly. He’s a dangerous swordsman, fully capable of making good on his threat to take your head, fighting with a greatsword imbued with frost. He’s got close attacks, midrange attacks, even the odd projectile - the arena will serve to ensure you’re almost always within range, and there are few tricks you can use to take him out easily the way you did with Candlemass. You’ll just have to learn his attacks and endure. Speaking of which, his attacks are as follows:
Blade Bolt¶
When you see Count Geonor take an “on guard” pose, be wary of the way he’s facing, as he’ll thrust his sword forward, shooting an icy bolt out of his blade. This deals significant damage and can inflict freeze, but it doesn’t affect a wide area, so you should be able to avoid it by moving perpendicular to Count Geonor.
Rush and Sweep¶
To close ground Count Geonor will couch his sword like a land and charge forward, hoping that you fell asleep while playing. That’s likely the only way this attack connects, but that doesn’t mean much, as this attack only serves to set up a more dangerous one - after completing his clumsy charge, Count Geonor will spin and perform a retaliatory backhand slash that covers around half the arena. This is much more likely to hit, especially if you chased him during his charge, and deals heavy damage as well as causing freeze accumulation. If you see Count Geonor charge, just be wary of the followup swing and keep your distance.
Three-Cut Combo¶
Count Geonor will chop the ground twice in quick succession, creating walls of ice around you. Destroy the walls and escape their bounds, as Count Geonor will charge up a third chop, placing it in between the two ice walls. This will deal heavy damage, but as long as you’re prepared to carve your way out you shouldn’t take a hit here.
In addition to the aforementioned attacks, Count Geonor will pursue you and pester you with less impressive sword strikes. These do relatively little damage, however, and aren’t much concern. After a period of time Count Geonor will stick his sword in the ground and transform into a giant wolf… which explains a lot, actually. In his wolf form Count Geonor has a few new attacks, as follows:
Lupine Smash¶
Probably the most dangerous attack Count Geonor will use in this phase, he’ll leap into the air and you’ll see a large target reticle on the ground. Get out of the marked area, as Count Geonor will slam down on the ground there, creating a massive burst of blood when he lands. This deals heavy damage.
Blood Rush¶
Count Geonor will charge in a straight line, leaving blood boils in his wake. These boils shortly erupt, spewing blood in a path perpendicular to the original charge path. You can avoid damage by getting behind where Count Geonor started his charge.
Summon Werewolves¶
The Mad Wolf howls, and his court comes calling. In this case his “court” is a pack of Court Werewolves, although they’re little more than fodder, and not really numerous enough to even hold you in place.
While planted, Count Geonor’s sword will emit an aura of ice, creating another hazard for this fight. All in all, Count Geonor won’t spend much time in wolf form, eventually abandoning it after a few attacks in favor of his humanoid form.
Keep reducing Count Geonor’s health and he’ll eventually abandon all pretenses of fair play to appeal to his Countess for aid, and when that’s not forthcoming he’ll shed what little remains of his humanity to continue the fight as [Geonor, the Putrid Wolf].
