Cyril the Cursed Smith will be your last V Blood Boss of Act 3 in V Rising. He is a level 65 Illusion School practitioner who resides in the Cursed Village situated in the Cursed Woods. As his name suggests, he’s a blacksmith by trade, however he has no intention of performing those duties. Due to his ability to use Illusion magic and his trade, Cyril has a lot of weapons he can access, which he will use against you in the battle to come. Defeating Cyril will reward you with a Tier 3 Illusion Skill Point, and recipes for the Anvil, the Advanced Furnace, and Dark Silver Ingots. Read on to find out his exact location and how you can defeat this tortured soul.
Cyril the Cursed Smith Location¶
You’ll find Cyril at the back of the Cursed Village in the Cursed Woods. The easiest way to get there is to enter the Cursed Woods from the Ruins of Mortium entrance in the east. From there, follow the path north until you reach the Vampiric Waygate. Continue along the path until you reach an intersection and take the northern path. Proceed west ignoring the next two intersections and then take the north path at the third intersection. This will take you to the Cursed Village. Inside the village, head as far north as you can, where you’ll find Cyril outside his forge. Note that your map will be obscured while you’re in the Cursed Woods, but you can gain temporary access to it by interacting with the light wisps scattered throughout the area.
Cyril the Cursed Smith Strategy¶
This can be a difficult battle due to Cyril’s speed and the amount of stuff going on at the same time. He will regularly change his weapons throughout the battle where he’ll have a Greatsword, Mace, Axes, and a Spear. When he changes over to these weapons, he’ll get and use their weapon abilities; the same that you have access to. Further into the battle, he’ll begin to conjure illusory weapons that will have their own health bar. These weapons will use that specific weapon ability on you and will continue to do so until they’re destroyed, which can get overwhelming if you leave them up too long as Cyril can conjure four of them at once and when you combine their attacks with Cyril’s it’s easy to take a lot of damage. Fortunately, they don’t have a lot of health, and you can take them out with a well-placed Whirlwind. Let’s take a look at all the attacks Cyril has in his arsenal.
-
Greatsword Slash: Cyril will dash toward you with his greatsword and perform a horizontal slash. Dodge toward Cyril just as the slash is about to occur, as the invincibility frames from the dodge will negate the attack.
-
Spear Throw: Cyril will hurl an illusory spear at your location. There’s not much you can do about this attack unless you have quick reflexes due to the speed this reaches you. One good tip is to always be moving so when it does come, you should avoid it as you won’t be stationary.
-
Mace Orbs: This attack is one of Cyril’s favorites. He will levitate into the air and slam down the mace into the ground, which will unleash numerous orbs in a circle that travel outwards. Wait until the orbs get closer to you while waiting for Cyril to use an attack on you, and then dodge through the attack into the center where the orbs came from.
-
Elusive Strike (Slashers): Cyril will change his weapon to the slashers and perform Elusive Strike, which lets him dash back and forth while slashing. Either get away from Cyril when he switches to the Slashers, or use your dodge away from him to avoid the attack.
-
Illusory Greatsword: Cyril will slam down his smithing hammer to conjure an illusory Greatsword. This conjured weapon will float around the arena and perform a horizontal slash.
-
Illusory Spear: Cyril will slam down his smithing hammer to conjure an illusory Spear. This conjured weapon will float around the arena and perform a Spear Throw.
-
Illusory Mace: Cyril will slam down his smithing hammer to conjure an illusory Mace. This conjured weapon will float around the arena and perform the Mace Orbs attack that Cyril uses.
-
Illusory Axes: Cyril will slam down his smithing hammer to conjure illusory Axes. This conjured weapon will float around the arena and perform the Axe’s Frenzy attack.
Although it may look like Cyril has a lot of attacks, the battle will generally be him jumping in the air with his Mace to create orbs before switching to his Slashers and using Elusive Strike. If you get too much distance from him, he’ll use Spear Throw and if you’re at mid-distance he’ll use Greatsword slash. When he summons the illusory weapons, make sure they become your focus until they’re destroyed, otherwise the battle becomes hectic, and you’ll start taking damage from everything. They don’t have a lot of health and using a weapon skill that hits multiple times will take them down (Whirlwind, A Thousand Spears, Fan the Hammer, etc.)
Cyril doesn’t leave many openings, so you’ll need to chip away at him while avoiding his attacks. We like to dodge into him and attack him with the Sword, as it does decent damage while also recovering your health. We recommend taking Veil of Chaos due to its second dodge or Veil of Illusion, as you can activate it again to go back to your last spot. For your other skills, take Blood Rage and Power Surge to increase your movement and attack speed. Finally, bring along either Ice Block or Raging Tempest for your Ultimate. When you defeat Cyril, you’ll get rewarded with a Tier 3 Illusion Skill Point and the Anvil, the Advanced Furnace, and Dark Silver Ingot recipes.
