There are plenty of characters to recruit in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, some of which are a little more involved than simply speaking with them. One such character is El Alicanto, who is a little more hidden than other characters, and is probably one of the last few you will be recruiting. You will find him on Snowpeak Pass, after the story events there, and you’ll need to beat him in a duel before he will join your army.
El Alicanto’s Location¶
You will find El Alicanto on Snowpeak Pass, the snowy mountain just north of Athrabalt. However, you will have to wait until after you finish the story events there, so it’s best to wait until you’re told to go to Castle Harganthia (or trigger the scenes with Markus at your base). Once you’ve gotten to that point, you can head back to Snowpeak Pass and take the northern path there. Make your way through the windy path and when you reach the northernmost one, look for the trail that goes north.
You’ll know it’s the right spot, as when you near the end, a cutscene will trigger and El Alicanto will appear. He will offer to join your party, but he wants to duel you first to test your mettle. This will be a one-on-one duel between Nowa and El Alicanto, similar to the one between Nowa and Seign near the beginning of the game.
El Alicanto Duel¶
As with every other duel, you will know which action to choose from what Alicanto yells. Luckily he really only has two different phrases he shouts, with each one corresponding to one of the two commands.
El Alicanto’s Comments | Use |
---|---|
I stand ready to be tested! | Attack |
Seize every chance! | Counter |
El Alicanto pulls his punches for no one! | Break |
As you can see above, there are only really two phrases he’ll shout for most of the duel. Use the appropriate command until you fill your Break gauge, which is when Alicanto will start using the third option from above. That’s when you should use your Break command, so sit back and enjoy the action. This should bring the battle to a close, with El Alicanto joining your party afterward.
