Yuthus, Kogen, and Zabi will challenge you at the end of the Abandoned Mine Dungeon during the Searching the Tunnels mission in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. On this page, we’ll provide you with the necessary tips to deal with the gimmicks and take them down.
Yuthus, Kogen, and Zabi Boss Strategy¶
The Yuthus, Kogen, and Zabi battle is split into two phases, but it is relatively straightforward as long as you take them down in the right order and you use the gimmick to your advantage.
Phase 1¶
Yuthus has the most HP and will cover his allies, Kogen is their main damage dealer, and Zabi has the ability to heal. You’ll want to start the battle by focusing on taking down Yuthus as he’ll be able to provide cover to the other two opponents when you attempt to attack them, this means the amount of damage you do to them will be massively reduced. The quickest way to take down the enemy is by having everyone use their Rune-Lens attacks and having Nowa and Lian use the Hero Combo, Senior & Junior Combo.
Throughout the battle Kogen will use an attack called Hail of Flails which involves him throwing multiple explosives that deal AoE (Area of Effect) Damage, so you’ll want to make sure you top up your HP with any healing items you have available or if you have Francesca in your team, then you can use her Recovery Wave instead. Beware however, Francesca won’t be able to have her turn until near the end of the round, so if you urgently need healing then be sure to use up a Healing Herb or Incense.
Phase 2 - Rockfall Gimmick¶
Once you take down one of the bandits, the second phase will begin and this will introduce the gimmick Rockfall. Ignoring the gimmick will most likely cause the rocks to fall onto your party and deal 50+ damage to everyone which is something you want to avoid. If you want to guarantee that you hit your opponent with Rockfall, then you’ll want someone with the slowest turn order to use the gimmick and this will be Garr at this stage of the game.
Alternatively, you can prevent the enemies from using the gimmick by defeating Kogen first (as he’s the only one that can use it), but this will be tricky as Zabi will be able to constantly top up his HP which will make the battle drag, so we recommend that you focus on Zabi first as you can guarantee the gimmick will work in your favor using the tips above anyway. There aren’t any standout attacks to be wary of outside of Hail of Flails, but you’ll want to make sure your HP is topped up throughout the battle as even basic attack damage can add up over time.
