All Geno Special Attacks in Super Mario RPG

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

This page offers a guide on all of Geno’s Special Attacks in the Super Mario RPG remake. You’ll learn all you need to know about how to unlock special attacks, how much damage they do, and how to use them!

List of All Geno’s Special Attacks

Geno has some great offensive and utility Special Attacks making him a relatively versatile character. For the most part, you may want to end up using his damaging attacks but it’s also good to boost your other party members too.

Special Attack Level Unlock Power Effects FP Cost
Geno Beam Default 40 Power Damage one enemy, and if you Hold “A” Joy-Con-ButtonA until just before the beam discharges and when it reaches five stars, release the “A” button to deal extra damage. 3 FP
Geno Boost Lv. 8 None Raise an ally’s attack by 50%. If you hit the “A” right before the move, it’ll also raise the ally’s defense by 50%. 4 FP
Geno Whirl Lv. 11 45 Power Damage one enemy and if you hit “A” it will deal 9999 damage! 8 FP
Geno Blast Lv. 14 50 Power Damage all enemies, and if you Hold “A” Joy-Con-ButtonA until just before the beam discharges and when it reaches five stars, release the A button to deal extra damage. 12 FP
Geno Flash Lv. 17 60 Power The same as Geno Blast but more powerful. 16 FP

Geno Beam, Geno Blast and Geno Flash

Geno Beam, Geno Blast and Geno Flash all perform in largely the same way. Geno Beam, the default version, will damage only one enemy but you can perform extra damage if you hold and discharge the attack at the perfect time. Geno Blast and Geno Flash will target all enemies but utilize the same charge and release mechanism to deal extra damage!

Geno Boost

Geno Boost is a utility special move that allows you to boost another ally’s attack by 50% and if you press “A” before the end of the animation, it’ll also raise the ally’s defense by 50%! This is a nice ability for when another of your members is the star of the show and you’re looking to boost their damage and keep them alive a bit longer!

Geno can perform the role of a support and boost his allies’ attack damage.

Geno Whirl

Geno Whirl is basically a one-shotting ability if you press “A” Joy-Con-ButtonA at the perfect time. It will do a huge amount of damage to one enemy and if you hit the “A” it’ll increase the damage to 9999! And what’s better, Geno’s attacks always have a 100% hit rate!

A whirly attack that targets one enemy.

Super Mario RPG is a wonderful and whimsical remake of the 1996 classic Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. You’ll need to assemble a group of heroes (starting with Mario of course!) to embark on a quest to repair the wish-granting Star Road! Along the way you’ll encounter enemies from the Smithy Gang, and you’ll unlock access to a whole cast of nostalgic playable characters, from Princess Peach to Geno the puppet to the adorable Mallow.

This guide includes everything you need to make your way through the Super Mario RPG remake. Whilst this game is a faithful remake of the original, the game developers, ArtePiazza, have also included some fun post-game match-ups for those who are looking for an extra challenge and a departure from the OG game!
