As you near the end of Super Mario RPG, you get to the point where you want to maximize his output. One of the ways you can do this is by obtaining his best weapon. Similar to other party members outside of Peach and Mario, Bowser has two best weapons, one in the main game, and one as a post-game reward. The former is called Drill Claw, while the latter is called Wonder Chomp. You’ll find the Drill Claw in the Six-Door Challenge room in Bowser’s Keep, whereas you’ll obtain the Wonder Chomp as a reward for defeating Punchinello in a rematch during post-game. Read on to find out the exact location of these ultimate weapons.
Drill Claw Location¶
Location | Stats |
---|---|
Bowser’s Keep | +40 Attack |
Shortly after entering Bowser’s Keep, you’ll get to a room with six red doors. Each of these doors provides a challenge, and one will contain the Drill Claw. Unfortunately, because each door is random, it’s impossible to tell you the “correct” door, but thankfully, the challenge that rewards the weapon will be the same. The Drill Claw resides in the Battle Course One challenge, where you’ll fight twelve grueling battles before you get to the room containing the weapon. To know if you’re in the right challenge, the first battle will be against five Pro Goombas which you’ll find when you reach the first set of statues. If you want an in-depth guide on the Battle Course as well as the rest of the challenges, check out our Six-Door Challenge Guide.
Wonder Chomp Location¶
Location | Stats |
---|---|
Moleville (Post-Game) | +67 Attack |
After you complete the main story, make a clear data save, and load it back up. This will place you in Mario’s Pad where he’ll have a dream, or was it? Toad will give you a Star Voucher which allows you to stay in Marrymore’s deluxe room. Take him up on the offer, and rest at the inn where you’ll be treated to a brief scene. Geno will tell you that you should check out Star Hill, so do as it says, and head there. Complete the events at Star Hill, and you’ll unlock the boss rematches. Now, go to Moleville, head inside the mines there, and go to the end where you’ll find “Leveled-Up” Punchinello. This is a difficult battle where the only way you can damage him is by deflecting the bombs back in his direction, but only the ones that are facing toward him. For a full, in-depth boss strategy for this battle, check out our Leveled-Up Punchinello Boss Guide. Defeating Punchinello will reward you with the Wonder Chomp.
