Now where were we going again? Actually, scratch that, where are we? There’s nothing more embarrassing than getting lost in the middle of a grand adventure. Reduce your chance of getting lost by referring to the bottom screen, which handily displays the map.
When you’re strolling outside in Hyrule, you will see the map of Hyrule. Link’s position will be indicated by a little Link-shaped face and a red cross (or multiple) may be marked on the map, indicating where you must go next to progress the game.
Touch the magnifying glass icon in the top-left corner to zoom in and out of the map. While zoomed into the map, you can drag the stylus on the map to change your viewpoint.
With the stylus, you can move a red pin from the left and place it anywhere on the map to identify a point of interest, such as an unreachable item.
Up to 20 pins can be placed on the map; touch a pin on the map to change its colour or remove it. Later, a Maimai icon will be added to the left side–touch this to dislay the number of remaining Maimai in each zone.
Enter a dungeon and the bottom screen will display the dungeon map instead. The basic map functions remain unchanged–you can still zoom in and out and move the map around. However you can’t use the pin function or Maimai function (because there aren’t any Maimai in dungeons).
As dungeons have multiple floors, you can select which floor to view by touching the floor buttons on the left. Also, once you’ve obtained the dungeon’s Compass, unopened chests and doors will be displayed on the map.
