Zora’s Flippers¶
Despite being the hero of Hyrule, Link isn’t a very good swimmer; in fact, he instantly drowns upon leaping into deep water. Fortunately help is at hand with this Zora treasure, which lets anybody swim as if they were a born natural; put the Zora’s Flippers on and Link can swim freely. Control Link’s movements with the circle pad, press B to swim faster and A to dive for a short period of time. Diving is useful for avoiding attacks or grabbing submerged treasure.
Bee Badge¶
Ouch, ouch, ouch! Don’t you just hate it when you cut down grass and a bee (or four!) appears, stinging Link? However, once you’ve caught the impossibly-rare Golden Bee, say goodbye to your bee woes. Head over to the Bee Guy and give him the Golden Bee to be rewarded with the Bee Badge, which makes all bees love Link and stop attacking him. Okay, we’ll be honest, we may have exaggerated the problem of bees–the Bee Badge isn’t really that useful.
Stamina Scroll¶
Minor spoilers: the Ice Ruins dungeon is probably the longest dungeon in the game. So it’s kind of fitting you get this stamina-boosting item in it. What it does exactly is increase the size of the energy gauge, allowing Link to stay merged in walls for longer and expend more item uses in a given time. Except for maybe one puzzle and maybe one boss, you don’t really need it, but it’s handy to have; we’re certainly not going to refuse the chance to spam the Tornado Rod more freely.
Key Items¶
Through the course of the game, Link will acquire a collection of pendants and paintings. These items technically do absolutely nothing and they’re just shown in the Gear menu to look pretty (plus indicate how much progress you’ve made in the game or which dungeons you’ve completed–okay, that’s probably the real reason). In terms of the plot, these items are absolutely irreplaceable and required to save Hyrule. (No, Link isn’t about to engage in an art contest that will decide the future of the world, if you’re asking that.)
Collectables¶
These are found in bushes, pots, treasure chests, the remain of monsters, stuck on walls, you name it. Collect four Piece of Hearts to increase Link’s maximum heart count by 1. Save up rupees to rent items from Ravio, play mini-games or buy things from shops. Rescue lost Maimai and return them to Mother Maimai to redeem item upgrades. Potion ingredients (Monster Tail, Monster Guts or Monster Horn) can be used to brew special potions at the Witch’s Hut. Gather Master Ore and give them to the Blacksmith to upgrade the Master Sword.
