How to Craft Gear in Gotham Knights¶
To craft equipment you’ll need to unlock the Workbench at the Belfry, which requires you to complete the Case 1.2 - The Langstrom Drive. After this, return to the Belfry and you’ll find the Workbench just to the right of the Batcomputer. Once you’ve completed the crafting tutorial you’ll be able to craft by accessing the Batcomputer, either in the Belfry or while out on patrol. Just enter the Batcomputer, go to the “Crafting” tab under the “Gear” menu.
There are three types of gear, Suit, Melee and Ranged, and crafting any gear requires a blueprint and salvage. Blueprints and salvage can be obtained from chests hidden throughout Gotham City, or by stopping crimes. Different criminals yield different types of salvage:
- Mobsters drop Polymer, Titanium Mesh and Rare Earth Metals.
- Freaks drop Polymer, Industrial Solvent, Accelerant and Programmable Nanocapsules.
- Regulators drop Polymer, Graphene Fiber, Colloidal Crystal and Promethium.
Different types of criminals are usually found in specific regions of the city, so be sure to roam throughout Gotham City to find these varied foes and obtain the salvage they drop. You can also gain salvage by breaking down redundant gear, and in general your inventory will clean itself up as you play if you leave it neglected, with old mods being fused and obsolete gear being dismantled automatically.
You’ll generally know what you’re getting when you craft, as blueprints will tell you the level, power and damage, defense and health of the gea they create, but there is a chance that you’ll create an item with superior stats when crafting.
When switching to new characters, keep in mind that while all characters level in sync, their gear does not jointly improve. Before you go prowling with a new character, you’ll probably want to craft them new gear to bring them up to snuff. Keep that in mind and make sure you have excess salvage before switching characters.
