This page will detail how to unlock the Knighthood ability tree in Gotham Knights.
When you begin the game and have the ability to assign Action Points (AP), you will notice that in addition to the three normal skill trees, there is a fourth one that is locked. This is the Knighthood Skill Tree and it takes a bit of extra work to unlock it. It should be noted that while all of the characters have the same requirements in order to unlock Knighthood, they are all separate. That means if you unlock Robin’s Knighthood tree, then you will also need to do the requirements again to unlock the other’s trees.
You will unlock the Challenges for Knighthood upon completing Case 1.2 - The Langstrom Drive in the main story. So, with that out of the way, let’s take a look at the requirements to unlock this skill tree. Note that you will be able to keep track of these under the Challenges tab in your menu.
- Complete the Timed Strike Tutorial
- Stop 10 Premeditated Crimes
- Defeat 3 Minibosses
How to Complete the Timed Strike Tutorial¶
As with any other tutorial, you will be able to access these back at the Belfry. There will be a training dummy on the one side of the Belfry, which when interacted with, you will be able to do all of the training tutorials. The Timed Strike one isn’t really all too difficult, as you simply need to hit the attack button at the correct time to make it count.
How to Spawn Premeditated Crimes¶
Premeditated Crimes are definitely the biggest obstacle to unlock Knighthood, as they are something that must be triggered during the night before. Basically, as you do normal crimes, you will obtain clues that fill up a bar. Once this bar is full, you can return to the Belfry to progress the game to the next day. Doing this will make the following night have Premeditated Crimes, with the number equalling how many bars you filled the previous night. For more information on these, visit the How to Find and Complete Premeditated Crimes page.
How to Find and Defeat 3 Minibosses¶
Minibosses in Gotham Knights might sound a little daunting, but they are basically the bigger brutes that you take a bit more to defeat. At the point of the game when Knighthood Challenges unlock, the first minibosses are basically the ones with the shield, in which you need to use a Heavy Attack to stun. You will likely run into a lot of these as you’re doing the Premeditated Crimes, or even the normal crimes.
Once you have done the three Challenges above, head back to the Belfry and interact with the Batman shrine for a cutscene. Doing this will unlock the Knighthood skill tree, as well as unlock the main traversal technique for your character. The Knighthood skill tree is a special one that will contain powerful upgrades for your character, but it will also use up Action Points, like the other trees. Batgirl has Glide, Nightwing will have Flying Trapeze, Robin will have Slideways, and Red Hood will have Leap.
