Most of the playable characters are available from the start in One Piece Odyssey, but two of them will not be available to you until later in the game, those being Franky and Brook. Unfortunately, you’ll have to progress quite a bit through the game before you can fix those pesky broken bridges with Franky.
How to Recruit Franky¶
You’ll get Franky automatically during the Water 7 arc in Memoria. He will join almost immediately at the beginning of Chapter 5.
Does Franky have a Field Skill?¶
Franky has the ability to fix destroyed bridges, many leading to some treasure chests, but this will cost you resources though such as bolts and junk. Once the bridge has been fixed, you’ll be able to walk across it to access previously inaccessible areas.
What Attacks does Franky Have¶
When you have Franky in your party, you’ll soon discover he is Speed-Type and has access to fire-based skills such as Franky Fireball. He can also buff his attack by using his Cola Charge skill. Although he does have a few other skills, you’ll mainly be using him for his fire skills as the other characters can do the standard stuff better, but if an enemy has a fire weakness then Franky is your man.
Who is Franky?¶
In the One Piece lore, Franky was originally born as “Cutty Flam” before he changed it to Franky. At first, that was his nickname, but it became his name permanently after he was asked to conceal his identity by Iceburg. In Water 7, Franky had an incident at Tom’s Workers which led to his body becoming crushed. This required him to augment his body into a cyborg in order to survive. After his recovery, he ended up back at Water 7 and became the leader of the Franky Family, a group of bounty hunters among other stuff. Initially, he was an enemy of the Straw Hat pirates until an event in the Water 7 arc forced them together. Eventually, Franky ends up staying with the Straw Hat pirates, and he even ends up building the Thousand Sunny ship, which they use to navigate around the world.
