Gaining EXP and gaining it fast is ultimately the only way you will be able to progress to beat the bigger enemies in One Piece Odyssey. Gaining EXP allows the members of your crew to rise through the game’s Level ranks, but how high can you go and more importantly, how quickly.
What is One Piece Oddysey’s Level Cap?¶
Initially, like most games of this ilk, you will seem to be roaring through the levels. Pretty much every battle you are victorious in will see one or more of your pirate crew rise a level. If you are particularly successful and get some bonus EXP during a fight, it is even possible in the early days to rise more than one rank after a single fight. This realistically depends on how close you were to leveling up anyway, but we have seen it with our very own eyes so it is certainly possible.
Around about the level 15 or 16 mark, as you move through Chapter 2, however, things will slow down dramatically in the level climb. Of course, you can counter this to a degree by fighting more battles, but as you rise in levels the lower end enemies will simply not become with the five minutes of your time it takes to hook yourself up with 200 measly EXP.
When it comes to the game’s level cap then, what is it set at? Well, the main cap is maxed out at Level 99, and as we are still waiting on news of a New Game + at this stage and any potential rise above that, then Level 99 is the most you are going to get to at this stage.
Of course, reaching Level 99 will make you way more powerful than the majority of enemies in the game. There also seems to be achievements available if you can get all characters to Level 70.
It is possible of course that if One Piece Odyssey is supported with further DLC down the line - and we certainly hope it is - that this may be an opportunity for Bandai Namco to raise the bar with the introduction of new areas and enemies. Time will tell. But the answer for now, is most definitely Level 99.
