One Piece Odyssey is the Tales of Arise game you never knew you needed to be in the fan service One Piece setting. It’s important to mention this: as the game progresses, the map exploring, power-ups, difficulty scaling and more all work similarly to Tales. As a result, there are a few things you’ll need to know if you intend to play this game. Here’s a closer look at our One Piece Odyssey Tips and Trips page, which will walk you through the do’s and don’t we’ve picked up along the way.
One Piece Odyssey Tips and Tricks¶
Here is a list of tips and Tricks you can use while playing and learning more about One Piece Odyssey
- Pay attention to dialogue: While running around maps, notice sudden realizations from your party. Robin, Nami, and Sanji all have passive that allow them to detect if there’s something they can pick up. Sanji picks up food ingredients for cooking. Meanwhile, Nami can detect lots of raw cash on the floor, and Robin can find archaeology pieces. Alternatively, you can play as them, making finding those features much easier. Nami and Sanji’s passive unlock sometime in chapter 2 main story, and Robin some time in Chapter 4’s main story.
- Come back later: The game naturally wants to you explore areas much later on in the game’s storyline. You will get more side quests, bounty missions, and unlock memory links mainly when you finish the Memoria chapters.
- Don’t stray too far from the main story mission: The game will restrict where you can and cannot go in the early chapters. The result is you will likely be teleported facing the directions you should go to. It’s very easy to lose time, so enjoy the main story until the game lets you do your own thing, typically around the start of Chapter 3.
- Fast Travel: Partway through Chapter 2, you will unlock the fast travel feature. When you complete a Memoria Chapter, you will unlock all signposts in that Memoria, meaning you are free to explore as you wish.
- Look for grapple points and Chopper holes: Most areas of the map have something for Luffy to grapple to, or Chopper to crawl into. These tend to hide important items like Cubes, which empower various characters. Or they hide chests, which can grant nice gold rewards, or random items for consuming food, creating food, trick balls, or accessory items.
- Swap your Cubes around on character like Sanji, Robin and Usopp: Cubes can be swapped around freely. It allows you to empower certain moves before combat. But, this is important for crafting too. When you unlock further improved crafting features, put your cubes into those stats while you’re in Camp, as it means you can temporarily make better crafts, without permanently leaving Cubes in those slots. Craft the good stuff while you’re in camp, and then swap them back to abilities when you’re done.
- Use Trick Balls on boss-type enemies: Most of the combat in the game isn’t too difficult. However, when the occasional mini and boss battle come along, the difficulty ramps up. Taking your time to sync your bond moves, or heavy-hitting skills during windows you have lowered an enemy defense stat is a great use of items and skills. You can also lower the attack value with Trick Balls to create a window to heal your character and gain pace back.
- Make sure to craft items before the next chapter: Throughout the story, characters will come and go for various reasons. One of the issues is that characters like Robin, Sanji, and Usopp can disappear for lore and narrative reasons. So, make sure you are happily quipped with reserve stocks of food and trick balls in case that gets you unexpectedly. That way, you have enough items to carry you through the boss fights, or to remove status effects in combat those characters may not be available for use.
- Do all Hysteria Memory Links: Memory Links are the optional content you can find the Memoria worlds. These are side missions featuring only a part of your squad. The result is that these characters become stronger, getting access to special moves to use using the bond move feature. These are the most powerful tracks in the game for hitting multiple enemies in an area, the entire map or attacking one enemy. Doing so may make the following chapter’s boss fight easier, and you will certainly need it for the end game.
- Money is important: Money is already used to buy accessories, especially the very powerful 1 million berry cost accessories with incredible stats. These are your centerpieces for improving your characters with powerful items. You can learn more about how to make money using our list of tips for that topic.
- Bonus Tip - The Combat Log: Sometimes when you defeat enemies, you will get a combat core cube. These are entries into the Combat Log, which is an encyclopedia of enemies. These typically tell you what creatures and enemies award, where you can find them, and they sometimes explain their weaknesses. This is how you can figure how which skills are super effective against them, allowing you to know how to easily beat them. We also have a database we are populating with enemies too, if you’re interested in looking and planning your battles.
