The Sons of the Forest largely follows the pattern of its predecessor, with players crafting armor pieces and equipping them over time. The result is the players will have wear and tear armor, which you’ll need to replace as you progress and get into fights and take damage. But, what if we told you that there is an armor in the game that doesn’t operate like actual armor, but is instead, used as a story related armor? Introducing the brand new Sons of the Forest Gold Armor. Here is everything you need to know about the Sons of the Forest Golden Armor.
Sons of the Forest Golden Armor¶
The Golden Armor in the Sons of the Forest is a late-game armor set, covering your body from head to toe in medieval plate armor made of gold. The good news is that the armor value of this is consistent, rather than broken up into ten blocks, like you typically see with crafted armor pieces.
Wearing this armor will unequip your currently worn outfit and any armor your character wears. It also provides decent damage reduction against the Demons, meaning you can save any of your Tech Armor you are wearing, and instead opt to take very minimal damage from Demons as you make your way to the Cube. At the time of writing, the Gold Armor reduces Demon damage by 70%, so you will certainly want to use it against Demon enemies in battle. However, it doesn’t reduce the damage taken against cannibals, and instead, Tech Armor is the best for that.

It will also appear during the final cutscene when you reach the cube, regardless if you were wearing it at the time. It looks like the gold armor is made of the same material as the artifacts and the cube itself. It’s likely why you need the material to get through.
How to get the Sons of the Forest Golden Armor¶
We have completely re-written this section from our first patch of the Early Access launch. This is thanks to the second patch having completely moved the Gold Armor location to the new cave system.
To get the Gold Armor in the Sons of the Forest, you will need to head to the cave on the lake near the mountains on the island’s left side. However, you are going to need to have collected the Rebreather, as there’s lots of underwater pools you’ll need to navigate.
Once you’re inside the lake cave near the mountain, you#ll find two dead cultists on the outside. Enter the cave, then go through the pool in the middle and use the Rebreather to swim through. When you emerge, you’ll find the a decline int eh cave and another room. One room contains some supplies for batteries, food and other goodies to venture through the ave with. So, we recommend picking them up first. Once you’re done, go down the slide, and you’ll enter a new part of the cave.
In the slide area of the cave, you’ll come across more dead cultists, along side some Buckshot ammo, and some 9mm ammo. Follow deeper into the cave until you come across some gold on the wall. Follow the gold, and you’ll come across some gold structures, keep going, and then you’ll enter a larger area thats flooded. Follow the flood area, and you will eventually reach a an area with a gold wall that goes deeper, go under water and follow the gold beams and rocky cavern.
Once you exit this new underwater cavern, you’ll enter a new area with a corpse of what looks like an astronaut or some sort of diving gear. In this new room is another large golden structure, with a skeleton on a golden square. This skeleton wear the golden armor. If you already have the gold armor, it will not spawn on that location.
Congratulations, you now have your Golden Armor in the Sons of the Forest. Now you can make your way to the final Bunker and complete the game.
This is just straight up wrong. The golden armor doesnt provide any armor whatsoever. Its only use is to open a certain path in the end game.
Apologies, mate, I misinterpreted the armor bar change when I equipped it. Corrections have been made. I also noticed it forces you to wear the armor at the Artifact door if you're not already wearing it. So picking it and forgetting exists works fine.
