The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero

Testaments Training

By
Nathan Garvin

Walkthrough for the request “Testaments Training” in The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero.

How to Start Testaments Training

Testaments Training is a request in The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero, which you can pick up on Chapter 2 Day 2. To start this quest you just need to sit through all the chatter at the start of the day, and when you finally gain control of your characters, investigate the computer in the SSS HQ to accept this request.

Before you start this request you may want to make sure your HP/EP/CP are full, as it’ll make your life much easier. At the very least try to start the fight with Tio and Randy’s CP as high as possible, as you’ll need to make use of Analyze and Crash Bomb.

How to Complete Testaments Training

When you’re ready, make your way to the Downtown District and when you arrive turn west and enter “Trinity”, which is next to the “Neinvalli” exchange shop. Down in Testament territory, talk to Abbas behind the bar and he’ll tell you the substance of his request.

(1 of 3) Start out the fight against the Testaments with a Crash Bomb and you’ll have this fight in the bag.

Round 1 - Testaments versus SSS

Enemy Lv Elemental Effectiveness Drops
Azel 18 Earth_Elemental.png 100 Water_Elemental.png 100 Fire_Elemental.png 100 Wind_Elemental.png 100 Battle Scope, Tear Balm
Kienz 18 Earth_Elemental.png 100 Water_Elemental.png 100 Fire_Elemental.png 100 Wind_Elemental.png 100 Smoke Grenade, S-Tablet
Ryan 18 Earth_Elemental.png 100 Water_Elemental.png 100 Fire_Elemental.png 100 Wind_Elemental.png 100 Battle Scope, Tear Balm
Vesse 18 Earth_Elemental.png 100 Water_Elemental.png 100 Fire_Elemental.png 100 Wind_Elemental.png 100 Battle Scope, Tear Balm

What follows is a fight with four Testament thugs - Azel, Kientz, Ryan and Vesse, all of which have their own bestiary entries and must be scanned (assuming your care about completion, anyways). Azel, Ryan and Vesse all have staves and will generally perform melee attacks, but they also have a powerful line attack, Earth Crack. Crash Bomb is, as usual, the “I win” button for this fight, as your foes will struggle to connect with much of anything while Blinded. Start out with that, have Tio Analyze all four enemies, then finish them off one at a time, picking off the ones Tio has scanned.

(1 of 3) Crash Bomb works equally great against the Saber Vipers.

Round 2 - Saber Vipers versus SSS

Enemy Lv Elemental Effectiveness Drops
Heuy 18 Earth_Elemental.png 100 Water_Elemental.png 100 Fire_Elemental.png 100 Wind_Elemental.png 100 Smoke Grenade, Relaxant
Jed 18 Earth_Elemental.png 100 Water_Elemental.png 100 Fire_Elemental.png 100 Wind_Elemental.png 100 Smoke Grenade, Relaxant
Koki 18 Earth_Elemental.png 100 Water_Elemental.png 100 Fire_Elemental.png 100 Wind_Elemental.png 100 Battle Scope, Cooling Spray
Slash 18 Earth_Elemental.png 100 Water_Elemental.png 100 Fire_Elemental.png 100 Wind_Elemental.png 100 Battle Scope, Cooling Spray

Win the battle and you’ll shortly find yourself in another fight, this time with several of Wald’s Saber Vipers, including Huey, Koki, Jed and Slash. Two have knives and two have bats. The knife-wielding gangsters can use the Taunt ability, lower a target’s DEF at the expense of increasing their STR, while the batter-boys can use the Rolling Bat ability, an AoE. These attacks would probably synergize better and be a lot more dangerous if the Saber Vipers weren’t going to spend the entire battle blind, but Randy’s Crash Bomb should prove decisive. Hit them with Crash Bomb, have Tio Analyze each one (once again, they all have bestiary entries) and pick them off as they’re scanned.

(1 of 3) In the third bout you’ll be fighting against both gangs, which just makes Crash Bomb even more vital.

Round 3 - Saber Vipers and Testaments vs SSS

After defeating the Saber Vipers Abbas will orchestrate another round of battle, this time with the Saber Vipers and the Testaments teaming up against your party. Although outnumbered 2-to-1, this battle plays out largely the same. The enemies aren’t any stronger this time around nor do they have any new attacks, so just hit them with Randy’s Crash Bomb, then spam AoEs to thin their numbers (Arts or S-Breaks, as you find convenient). If you already scanned all eight enemies in the previous two battles, there shouldn’t be any new bestiary info to be had here, so you can focus solely on offense.

Emerge victorious and you’ll earn +5 Detective Points, finishing the request in the process. After the gangs leave you can talk to Abbas again in Trinity to score Moonlight Butterflies, a drink that fully revives and fully heals the imbiber.
