Walkthrough for the Old Armorica Road in Chapter 1, during the main quest “Monster Damage Investigation” in The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero, including basic information about the monsters encountered in the area, and the treasures you can find as you explore.
Exploring the Old Armorica Road¶
You’ll reach this stretch of road after passing through three screens of the East Crossbell Highway. If you’re worn down from fighting through the previous area (your HP, EP and/or CP are low) consider heading back to town and resting, as you’ve got three more screens of toil ahead of you.

The first screen of the Old Armorica Road is home to half of the enemies you can find in this zone - the Deadly Dandelion, Helmet Hunter, Golden Axe and Magma Drome. All of these enemies are Lv10, so you should be able to resume leveling, assuming you didn’t grind a stupendous amount on the East Crossbell Highway. Hitting Lv12-13 in this area shouldn’t be too difficult, especially if you plan on seeking out the rare monsters found here!
Fight your way through the area, stopping to loot a chest near the exit to the East Crossbell Highway and another near the exit to the next screen of the Old Armorica Road. The former yields a Reviving Balm while the latter contains Grasshoppers, boots that are decent, but probably not better than the Purrfect Boots you could have won at the Barca Casino.
Also note there’s a gate blocking your way to a side area midway through the map. Nothing you can do about it now, just note it - and the two chests beyond the gate - and move on.
The second screen of of the Old Armorica Road introduces the Death Corolla enemy, whose most noteworthy feature is its tendency - however rare - to travel around with the Sasa Panda enemy. Like the Shining Pom, the Sasa Panda is a high flight risk, to target it first to ensure you’re able to Analyze and/or defeat it before it flees.
Other than that, proceed through the level until you reach a rest area, stopping to loot a chest in a corral for a Cool Necklace. When you approach the rest area you’ll get a scene, after which you can examine some vending machines to provoke more chatter. If you’re low on HP and have Mira to burn you can buy some beverages here:
Items | Cost | Effect |
---|---|---|
Canned Juice | 300 | Restores 300 HP/CP+5 |
Canned Coffee | 500 | Restores 200 HP/CP+10 |
Once done at the rest area, continue on towards the next screen. Along the way search an area off the road to the southwest to find a chest containing U-Material, then seek out another chest by the exit to obtain some Mute Quartz.
Note that the area just south of this area transition is a good spot to farm for both Bad Froggers and Sasa Pandas, as you can find both a Helmet Hunter and a Death Corolla nearby. Just kill the aforementioned common monsters repeatedly, zoning out to the third section of the Old Armorica Road and back into the second again to respawn them. Eventually a Bad Frogger/Sasa Panda will spawn with them, allowing you to scan them to fill out your bestiary.
The third screen is more of the same, really. Follow the road until it forks, then take a detour to the west to nab a chest housing a Reviving Balm. Return to the road and at the next fork note a bridge to the east that’s blocked off… not that it would be crossable even if the road blockades weren’t there. At a third fork turn southwest and rummage through a chest to obtain All Sepith x20.
Keep following the road until you find a bridge to the east. Cross it and turn north to find a chest, which just so happens to contain a swarm of Helmet Hunters. While weak individually, you should exercise caution when facing half a dozen of them at once; don’t be shy about using your S-Breaks or AoE Arts to thin their numbers down. They can inflict poison which will deal damage to you every turn for its three-turn duration, and subsequent hits will reset the duration. Having a lot of characters poisoned while fighting along battle is not a recipe for success, so don’t let it happen. Once you’ve defeated the bugs you’ll claim the contents of the chest, some Attack 2 Quartz.
With that prize in hand, cross the bridge again and continue following the road until you reach the exit, stopping only to grab a final chest (EP Charge) just off the road to the southwest. Exit to the northwest to finally reach Armorica Village.
