Walkthrough for the West Crossbell Highway Monster Extermination request on Chapter 4 Day 1 in The Legend of Heroes: Trails From Zero. Details on where to find and defeat the Quetzalcoatl.
How to Start West Crossbell Highway Monster Extermination¶
West Crossbell Highway Monster Extermination is a request that you can begin by examining the computer in the SSS HQ at the start of Chapter 4 Day 1, the first day of the Chapter. Unlike the Ruins Investigation Request, this one is entirely optional so it’s a good idea to focus on clearing it (and the other Requests) earlier in the day as you’ll have Noel Seeker’s tank to get around Crossbell state easier.
As with most Monster Extermination Requests, there’s no client that you’ll need to speak to first before you can fight the target so once you have it from the computer, it’s time to set out for West Crossbell Highway via Crossbell’s western exit.
How to Complete West Crossbell Highway Monster Extermination¶
Enemy | Lv | Elemental Effectiveness | Drops |
---|---|---|---|
Quetzalcoatl | 32 | 0 100 100 155 | U-Material |
To reach the location of Quetzalcoatl, you’ll want to actually avoid using Noel’s tank this time, since it’s easier to go via bus. Once you’re in the West Crossbell Highway, use the bus and choose the Bust Stop (Police Academy) option. Once you arrive at the fork, head east (towards Crossbell) and in the next area, you’ll find the target.
If you’ve already fought the new monster in the West Crossbell Highway, Cragrasp, then you’ll know what to expect from Quetzalcoatl as it’s essentially a boss version of it. To make life easier, make sure Tio or Elie has access to high-level Wind Arts as the Quetzalcoatls have high physical defense.
Begin the battle by scanning one of them as usual and then focus on using the Arts mentioned above, if you have access to it, Thunder Cyclone can really cause some damage. Quetzalcoatl is resistant to most status ailments, so Burn, Blind and Seal are out of the question here. It does mean you can be a bit more liberal with your CP with Lloyd and Randy, using S-Breaks whenever you see a Critical bonus pop up.
Don’t underestimate the Quetzalcoatls though, they hit hard. Their regular attacks will hit for around 580+ HP and their main attack, Grand Impact, will deal around 1000+ HP in a large area and inflict Faint. Needless to say, if they both use it back-to-back, you’re going to be in trouble. For this reason, ensure Elie and Tio always have some CP available for their healing Crafts.
So long as you prepare for this battle by having protection against Faint (Grail Lockets can be worn on two of your characters), have Wind Arts at the ready (even Aerial is useful still) and remember to keep your HP above 1100 at all times, you should have no issues defeating the Quetzalcoatls. There’s no Quartz reward from this monster extermination unfortunately, both monsters will drop a U-Material instead.
