Exit Meridian to the north and go straight north when the road splits, opting to go northeast at the next split to discover the little village of Cut-Cliffs. There, speak with the Quarry Foreman to start this sidequest. Some of his men have been murdered, five to be exact, in the quarry, so you offer your services in investigating the place. Go down into the quarry and as you look around, a large Machine comes out of hiding, a Rockbreaker.

This particular machine has the ability to burrow underground, meaning you’ll have to keep an eye out that it doesn’t surface underneath you. If you target its Digging Arms, you can prevent it from burrowing, so bring along some Tearblast Arrows. If you don’t do this, it can continually borrow underground and pop up underneath you, dealing some major damage. It may also sometimes stay above ground for a few seconds, spewing rocks into the air around its body.

Using Freeze on the Rockbreaker will help you deal more damage.

Wait until its entire body surfaces and stays above ground to work on removing its Digging Arms. Once you get rid of all four, the second stage of the fight begins. The Rockbreaker’s main attack in this portion of the battle is to basically sit back and spit a bunch of rocks in your direction. These are incredibly difficult to dodge, especially since the range is wide and there is no set pattern to the attack; moving away from the Rockbreaker seems to be the best option, as long as you don’t have something to your back.

Two things will help you quickly take down the Rockbreaker, Blast Wires and hitting the Exhaust Port on its back. In addition to spitting rocks, the large machine will also try to pounce at you and can be move around a bit. This is your cue to lay down some Blast Wires and try to lure it into triggering them. Do this enough and the Fuel Sac on its belly will burst, setting it ablaze and dealing some large damage. The Exhaust Port is just a spot where you can hit it for big damage. Once the big beast is down, report back to the Foreman to finish.
