Insult to Injury

You can receive this sidequest from Fia at Mother’s Rise, a small outpost located west of the Bunker, the ruins that are the location for the Ancient Armory sidequest. Fia is taking care of some poor soul who was in the War Party that was ambushed after The Proving. She asks you to procure some Dreamwillow to ease his pain, but supplies have run dry. There are two stashes you need to get, one of which is directly west of a merchant you likely found sitting at a campfire southeast of the Bunker. It is sitting atop a wooden platform in a tree, with no seemingly way to climb the tree.

However, there is a rope that’s connected to the tree from a nearby rock formation, so you’ll first have to climb that formation. On the southwestern side are some footholds you can use to reach the top of the rock formation, which will allow you to zipline over to the cache. Unfortunately, the cache doesn’t have any Dreamwillow and only some Metal Shards, so it’s time to head to the second one marked on your map. Follow the trail to the marker, being wary of a herd of Grazers on the way, which will bring you northeast of the Hunting Grounds in the area.

The Dreamwillow stashes are located in treetops (left), requiring you to find ways to climb to reach them (right).

As before, this one is also located on a wooden platform in a tree and you’ll have to find a way to reach it. Jump on some nearby rocks and then sprint jump to one of the wooden pillars. From there, you can get onto the cliffside and then drop down onto the wooden piece sticking out of the cliff. Unfortunately, this cache doesn’t have any Dreamwillow either, so report back to Fia in Mother’s Rise, who directs you to someone named Jun. This person is a recluse, but has been known to help out with herbs and potions.

Jun can be found to the southwest of Mother’s Crown, kind of isolated in the mountains. Be on the lookout for some Watchers and Scrappers along the way, and you’ll have to climb some ledges to get to a cabin. You’ll know you’re close enough whenever you hear Jun calling for help. It seems he’s trapped inside of the cabin, so head around to the front door and pry it open. Some outcasts attacked Jun and stole his Dreamwillow, so use your Focus to get a read on their tracks, which lead further into the mountains.

As you get closer, you see that the outcasts are in trouble and being attacked by some Watchers and a Sawtooth. The Watchers are easy enough, as you can one-hit kill them by shooting them in their eyes, but the Sawtooth will take a little more effort. If you can manage to get into the tall grass, you can get a jump on it by using a Silent Strike. Otherwise, you’ll need to do combat with it in the old-fashioned way, by dodging and pelting it with fire arrows, its weakness. Talk to the leader of the outcasts to get some Dreamwillow, then return to Jun. There will be a reaction choice with Jun, so pick your poison and the sidequest will finally be over.
