Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

How to Reach Dondoko Island Resort Rank One

By
Jessica Dillon

The very first task in the Dondoko Island story in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is to get the island to accept tourists again. To do this, it must be recognized as a resort. This will require a few hours of work, as the island is in pretty bad shape. The front area is covered in trash, and the island’s popularity is non-existent. The guide below goes over how to get Dondoko Island to Resort Rank One by reaching the next star requirement.

Reaching Resort Rank One is the first step on your journey.

How to Reach Resort Rank One - Dondoko Island

While you are completing the part of the Dondoko Island story that crosses over with Like a Dragon’s main story, you can start working towards Resort Rank One. There are four requirements you will need to meet to obtain this. We have listed the requirements in the table below.

Next Star Requirements

Requirement How to Reach
Satisfaction Points Earn 1,000 Points
Popularity Points Earn 700 Points
Clear Entrance Pay to Permanently Remove Garbage From Area
Clear Great Tree Pay to Permanently Remove Garbage From Area

How to Gain Satisfaction and Popularity Points

Gaining points can be done through a series of actions. Popularity points are mainly gained through collecting items and placing furniture. Satisfaction points only come from placing furniture. A deeper look at these point systems can be found in our guide here. Before focusing on these two tasks, though, you will need to worry about clearing out one of the areas above so that it’s easier to move around and decorate. At the start of your island adventure, there are only two small slithers of land that you can decorate, one in front of the store and the other in front of your house. Be sure to smash purple bamboo and the rocks around the island to gain the supplies you need to build furniture. Trash will also give you needed building materials.

You can expand this area by clearing out the entrance and great tree areas. You can clear these out by checking the sign out front. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to do this on your second day on the island when Kenzo arrives. At this point, you can pay to remove trash or see him in the shop to upgrade your tools. Each area has a cost and furniture building level that you will need to meet before removing the trash permanently. The Entrance has a building talent requirement of 5 and a starting cost of 30,000 Dokobucks for the clearing.

The Great Tree is much more expensive at talent level 10 and 50,000 Dokobucks. You can decrease the price of clearing the area by clearing the trash each day. Just reaching level E for the Entrance reduces the price to 27,000. Likewise, reaching level E at the great tree will reduce the price to 45,000. You can get money from completing dailies and selling the items you find or catch around the island at the shop. Once you reach S rank in the area, clearing will be at its cheapest price. To increase your building talent, you simply need to make furniture.

(1 of 3) Clear the trash from areas to reduce the clearing cost.

Keep in mind that on the third day, pirates will begin to appear on the island. You will need to clear them out of the Entrance and Great Tree areas each day if you want to clean up in peace. Once you clear your first area, a recycling center will open beside the shop, where you will be able to collect a set amount of building materials each day equal to what you would have got from the trash for clearing the area. After all the requirements above are fulfilled, the game will let you know. Go and speak with Matayoshi to get your island certified as Resort Rank One. There are five ranks in total, with each one helping you unlock new areas, features, and rewards.

What Unlocks at Resort Rank One?

Once you reach Resort Rank One, many things on the island will change. For starters, you can now reach the beach on the right side of the island, and here, you can find the final two pieces of trash glass and semiconductors. You will also gain access to two more areas to clear, the Hill and Lighthouse. Both areas contain new items for you to collect. You will be given $10,000 to use on the mainland, unlock passive areas to buy from the shop that gathers wood, stone, and basic trash for you, and finally be given 100,000 Dokobucks.
