There are many side activities and minigames in Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, some of which are new and some that return from previous entries. Of course, one of the returning minigames is Shogi, a game that is called Japanese chess. While you can play some full matches of Shogi for fun, the best way to unlock the related points and prizes is through Puzzle Shogi. These will put you into situations where you need to perform a move (or two in later puzzles) to get a checkmate and complete the puzzle. There are ten of these puzzles to do, with you getting the most points on a first clear. Note that you don’t need to be familiar with Shogi in order to do the puzzles.
Where to Find Shogi in Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth¶
If you’ve played Yakuza: Like A Dragon, then you will know where the Shogi place is located in Infinite Wealth, as you start out the game in Yokohama. As soon as you get some limited access to the map in Yokohama, locate the homeless camp on the western side, then look a little north of it to find the Open Road Shogi. Speak to the NPC sitting on the ground and one of the options will be Puzzle Shogi, which this page will be focused on.
Puzzle Shogi 1 Solution¶
You only have a single move to put the enemy into checkmate. Things start out very simple, as you have a Pawn on the board, as well as a Gold General in your captured area. The only enemy piece on the board is their King, so you don’t have to worry about other pieces getting in the way. The solution is to take the Gold General and place it in between your Pawn and the King.
Puzzle Shogi 2 Solution¶
You only have a single move to put the enemy into checkmate. The enemy has their King, as usual, as well as a single Pawn. As for your pieces, you have a Silver General to the right of the King, as well as a Gold General in your captured area. To win this level, you just need to place the Gold General right in front of the King.
Puzzle Shogi 3 Solution¶
You only have a single move to put the enemy into checkmate. The enemy’s King is in the corner here, with it being surrounded by a Knight, Silver General and Lance. You only have a Bishop on the board, as well as a Knight in the captured area. To win, just place the Knight in front of the Silver General.
Puzzle Shogi 4 Solution¶
You only have a single move to put the enemy into checkmate. The enemy will have three Pawns in front of their King, along with a promoted Rook, Knight and Lance. Of course, you only have two pieces, both of which are on the board already. Those are a promoted Rook and an unpromoted Silver General. To win, move the Silver General up one space and make sure you don’t promote it.
Puzzle Shogi 5 Solution¶
You only have a single move to put the enemy into checkmate. Your opponent has a Lance and a Pawn right next to their King, all of which are in the top-right corner of the board. For your pieces, you have a Gold General close to all of the enemy pieces, but you will also have two Bishops on the bottom of the board, one on each side.
Puzzle Shogi 6 Solution¶
You will have two moves to put the enemy into checkmate from Level 6 onwards. Your opponent has its King towards the top-right corner, with a Lance behind it and three Pawns in front of it. You will only have a Bishop on the board, to the left of the three Pawns, as well as a Silver General in your captured area. Your first move will be to place the Silver General to the left of the Lance. This will cause the King to move to the left one space. From there, just move your Bishop to the left of the King and make sure to promote it.
Puzzle Shogi 7 Solution¶
You will have two moves to put the enemy into checkmate. The enemy will have its King towards the top-right corner, along with a Gold and Silver General. As for your pieces, you have a Knight and Lance along the right edge of the board, as well as a Rook in the captured area. Start by placing the Rook behind the King, causing the King to capture it. The second move will be to place the Knight (do not promote) in front of the Gold General, putting the King in checkmate.
Puzzle Shogi 8 Solution¶
You will have two moves to put the enemy into checkmate. In addition to the King, which is in the top-right corner, the enemy will also have a Silver General two spaces to the left of the King. You will only have a Bishop and Lance, both in front of the King. For your first move, place the Bishop to the left of your Lance and make sure to promote it. The second move is to just place the Lance one square up and promote it.
Puzzle Shogi 9 Solution¶
You will have two moves to put the enemy into checkmate. The opponent will have a Knight and Silver General behind the King, along with three Pawns in front of the King. You will have a Silver General on the board, just to the left of the King, as well as a Rook to the left of that piece. Additionally, you have a second Silver General in your captured area. The first move should be to place the Silver General on the board behind the King, then promote it. This will cause the King to take that piece. From there, all you have to do is place the other Silver General in between the Knight and Pawn for checkmate.
Puzzle Shogi 10 Solution¶
You will have two moves to put the enemy into checkmate. The final puzzle has the enemy King accompanied by two Pawns, as well as a Lance. You will have a Knight and a Rook, both unpromoted, as well as a promoted Bishop. The first step is to move the Rook one space to the right, behind the King, then promote it. The King will take it, but leave itself wide open for you to move the Bishop just left of it for the checkmate.
All Open Road Shogi Prizes in Infinite Wealth¶
The following list is all of the prizes you can get from the Open Road Shogi minigame in Yokohama, as well as the number of points needed to purchase each prize. Note that some prizes are limited, meaning you can only ever get one Level Booster from this place. Some items are also special in that you can only ever have one of them.
Prize | Points Needed |
---|---|
Desperado’s Revolver | 21,000 |
Iron Fragments | 850 |
Iron Chunk | 1,700 |

Soul Hackers 2 Soundtrack CD 1 | 150 |
Soul Hackers 2 Soundtrack CD 2 | 150 |
Naturally, the Desperado’s Revolver would be great to get, but you’d need to grind a little bit to get the extra points for it. However, even if you got this in Chapter 1, you’d still need to wait a while before being able to use it, since you don’t unlock the ability to switch jobs until Chapter 5. The Taxi Blueprints can be another important item, but it’s not usable until you reach Chapter 6. The job level boosters might be good, although the lower levels of raising a job are much easier than later ones. They might be a good idea, but by the time you get to higher levels, you’ve probably found a good grinding spot. Professor Mutant is an item you can use to increase Ichiban’s Intellect; it does so by 50 points, but you can only get three from the shop.
