There are a lot of Substories in Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth that riff off of previous quests in the series. But there are none quite as crazy and funny as Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth Substory 29 - Litterbugged.
Substory 29 - Litterbugged’s starting location is found outside the Anaconda Shopping Centre next to the Sunset Street Trolley Stop on Anaconda Boulevard in Hawaii. It is right on the corner of the car park, just behind the Trolley Stop.
Upon approaching the corner, you will be greeted by an incredibly large machine called Sojimaru, beginning the side quest. Yakuza: Like A Dragon fans will recognize this contraption and its creator Professor Okita.
Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth Substory 29 - Litterbugged Guide¶
Okita will take you through his current work in Hawaii and ask that you invest a whopping $3,000 into his work on a new prototype. But the Substory doesn’t stop there as you will need to do a few more bits after that.
To complete Substory 29: Wait For Me you will need to:
- Invest $3,000 into Professor Okita’s project
- Identify trash correctly as requested by Okita
- Fight Sojimaru v 2.1 and win
Investing $3,000¶
At the point where you unlock the ability to complete this Substory, you will probably enter a state of shock when Professor Okita asks for this much money. It is a significant amount and money is not easy to come across in the earlier Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth chapters. However, there are a few ways to rack up your earnings fast. These are:
- Reach the end of Chapter 5 and complete the Hawaiian Haunt Sector 1 dungeon
- Complete Sujimon battles
- Smackdown opponents
- Collect items around Hawaii
First of all, the Hawaiian Haunt dungeon is a farmable, randomly generated dungeon that can be repeated to grind levels, obtain weapon upgrade materials, and of course earn money. A full run of this first floor will net you a few grand depending on your luck and how many enemies you fight. Therefore, it makes it a great way to rack up money in the early game. Fully clearing every floor will take around an hour at levels 18-25, but as you level up the Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth party members more the runs through the Hawaiian Haunt will get quicker.
You can find a full breakdown of the Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth Hawaiian Haunt here.
Additionally, unlocking the Sujimon League when it unlocks with the other Chapter 4 Substories is a great way to earn some fast cash from battling other Sujimon Trainers and taking on Sujimon Raids. It isn’t too tricky to unlock either and our page on how to unlock the Sujimon League will help you out.
Beyond that, when you reach around level 20-25 you will get the option to Smackdown lower-level enemies (highlighted with blue icons). Pressing the trigger or key as a fight in Hawaii begins you will be able to instantly K.O. everyone and take home the rewards without needing to attack manually. It is a great way to earn some quick cash as you can just run loops around the lower-level areas of Hawaii and get hundreds of dollars in mere minutes. You can also just run around and collect items from the ground to sell for some cash, although this isn’t going to net you a ton of money.
When you have invested your money, go back to the professor and he will get to work on upgrading Sojimaru. Move on to the next chapter or complete some new side activities to have the next section of the quest pop up.
Identify Trash¶
Next, head down to the docks just east of Anaconda Harbor Park. Okita will ask you to help improve Sojimaru’s A.I. by identifying what you would consider trash. This actually isn’t too tricky and anything that appears with holes in is rotten/old or looks tattered can be selected as trash. Other objects should be selected as “not trash”.
With that completed you will have to wait yet again for a while. So, complete the next main story quest or do some side activities like the new Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth minigames.
Fighting Sojimaru¶
When the quest appears again, head back to the same spot where you completed the last step. But this time you will find out that Sojimaru has really advanced in intelligence, although her definition of trash goes beyond just objects. Unfortunately, some thugs, a man, and Okita himself end up getting swept into her and it is your job to take down Sojimaru v2.1 and free them.
This is a level 27 fight, and it is a grueling one. Sojimaru v2.1 can deal some razor-like damage if you are not strong enough and the fight can feel like a slog even at an appropriate level. Really, you want to be around level 23 or above to take on this machine and you need jobs that have Water/Ice and Fire based skills.
The bulk of Sojimaru’s damage will come from its Left Module and Right Dispenser. So, you want to target those and destroy them as quickly as you can with your skills and attacks. These areas are weak to fire, ice, as well as electricity, so it is a good idea to have the Aquanaut, Housekeeper, or Pyrodancer jobs equipped on your party. Kiryu’s hard-hitting physical attack-based jobs are also good. These can weaken Sojimaru quickly and deal punishing blows with well-timed action prompts.
When both the left and right tools are down, you can then target the main body of Sojimaru with the same attacks. Attacks like Cresting Collider for the Aquanaut are great here as they can deal a bunch of damage. Frequently use healing skills and items to replenish health and MP and you will eventually whittle down Sojimaru’s health.
At under or around Sojimaru’s level this fight will take a good 15 minutes or so, but as Sojimaru gets weaker you will be dealing more damage and land more consistent critical hits. With Sojimaru down you will get almost a grand in cash and add Sojimaru to the Sujidex. It will also complete the Substory!
