There are quite a few substories that are part of a quest chain like substory 43 - A Man Named Asaka. Despite the name of the substory, the man you will be fighting goes by the name of Asakura, and he wants a rematch with Ichiban. The guide below goes over where to find substory 43 and gives you some tips on how to defeat Asakura.
How to Defeat Asakura¶
Once you reach chapter four, head to Aloha Bridge. Here, you should find a man with a substory marker standing on the sidewalk. This is substory 43 - A Man Named Asaka and it will trigger as you approach the man. This is the same Asakura who traveled all the way to Hawaii to rematch Ichiban in a fight. This substory kicks off a quest chain, where you will fight Asakura multiple times. Each time you beat him, you will unlock a new ability for Ichiban to use. Each fight, including this first one, has Ichiban going one-on-one with Asakura in a brawl. There is no way for your party members to help you, and Asakura can quickly overpower players who haven’t leveled properly. You should also pick up a few healing items, just in case you take too much damage during the fight.
Unlocking the Merciless Melee Ability¶
For this first fight, Asakura is level 12. He can hit decently hard, so you won’t win unless you are a few levels above him and have good equipment. You will also want to avoid attacking him when he’s posed to counter, as this will just cause you to lose extra health. Luckily, you can use Poundmates in this battle to give yourself an upper hand, making it rather easy to win as long as you’ve leveled properly. For beating Asakura the first time, you will unlock the Merciless Melee ability. This ability does a high amount of damage and has the ability to break guards. Once you defeat Asakura and get through a few more chapters, you should unlock substroy 44 - A Changed Man.
