Key Attacks

Explosion Dance - The Peco knocks its voltstones together in preperation before lunging towards the hunter, causing an explosion upon landing. This can happen three times. The best way to avoid it is to roll past the Peco as it lunges forward.

Charge - The Peco runs forward towards the hunter, knocking them aside with its whole body.

Spit - The Peco coughs up a series of spit balls towards the hunter, lowering tunder resistance on hit.

Tail Swipe - The Qurupeco swings its tail around in a circular motion, normally used if a hunter is attacking from behind.

Flash - The Crimson Peco raises its voltstones into the air, biting up and making a clicking sound before causing a bright flash, disorientating any Hunters or Monsters standing nearby.

Flight - During flight the Peco can charge at the hunter, launch a ball of spit of simply peck downward.

Recommended Strategy

You want to try and tackle the Crimson Qurupeco from its side, if only because of its sudden explosions that the Peco can produce.

As with any creature, adopt a cautious attack and dodge mantra, picking your windows in between its attacks. The Peco is swift, and its attacks vicious, so getting outside of its attack range is important.

The calls and dances are you big invitations to attack. The moment the Qurupeco starts one of its rituals is a great opportunity to land an extended string of attacks and deal some significant damage.

The major difference when taking on the Crimson Qurupeco is two fold - his Flash attack and the fear of multiple large monsters arriving mid fight.

The Flash simply requires you to be vigilant and the moment you see the Peco reaching up, abandon any sort of attack and move away as fast as possible. It’s a minor addition to the strategy, but an important one.
