Description¶
The Sword and Shield offers high mobility and even the use of items while it’s drawn. However the damage of individual sword hits is rather low and the weapon itself has short range, so hunters will need to get in close and frequently use combos to rack up decent damage.

Usage Tips¶
Frequent Offense : The Sword and Shield doesn’t deal a lot of damage with each hit so you need to focus on dealing damage constantly, which also means staying on top of a monster and dodging their attacks. The weapon should never really be holstered, considering you can use items with it drawn.
Dodge over Block : Using you shield should be your second choice in combat because blocking an attack devours your stamina bar. That’s not to say that blocking is bad, just that it should be a second choice, particularly if you’ve not bulked up your stamina bar through cooked meat.
Recommended Skills¶
The Sword and Shield relies heavily on its status ailments so a Status Atk+ skill is recommended.
The Wide Range+ Skill can enhance the range of this rather short weapon.
