Description¶
The Jade Barroth is a sub-species of Barroth that can be found wandering the Tundra. Like its muddy cousin, it can create a protective armour by covering its back in snow. During heated battles, it can break through into the elusive Areas 8 and 9 of the Tundra, where it can top up its snow armour or rest.

Key Attacks¶
Charge : The Barroth puts its head down and then rampages towards the player. It’s important to keep moving as the attack starts as the Barroth will aim for the player at the start of the charge, not when it lowers its head. The Jade Barroth can also U-Turn at the end of a charge so keep a thread on him throughout the initial run.
Snow Toss : The Barroth shakes its head and throws snowballs all around it (they seem to aim for the player if they stand still). These inflict Snowman on the player.
Tail Swipe : The Barroth swings its tail around itself in a clockwise motion to roughly 180 degrees. This attack may be repeated several times.
Head Slam : The Barroth slams its head into the ground, throwing snow clumps in front of it that can inflict Snowman. the Jade Barroth will often follow this with a quick hop back and another Head Slam.
Rock Hurl : The Barroth digs its head into the ground and then throws a huge chunk of snow at the hunter.
Recommended Strategy¶
The Jade Barroth is a Wyvern and as such, his legs will be the optimal area of attack for the majority of weapons. This also moves you away from the beast’s head, his primary method of attack.
This said it’s vitally important that you make special note to watch out for the Jade Barroth’s shake ability as being inflicted with Snowman can lead to being caught in a more damaging attack if you haven’t packed Cleansers.
The Jade Barroth receives a huge boost to his attack capabilities upon becoming enraged so you must go on the back foot when you see his head steaming. He gets fast and lethal, his charge attack in particular, so make attacks more fleeting at this point and let the beast calm down before going back on the offensive.
Oh and one other thing, after a Jade Barroth’s charge his tail will swing around behing him, damaging anyone in its way. Bear this in mind when moving in for some attacks post-charge.
The Jade Barroth doesn’t change much from his brown counterpart; it’s just more aggressive all around. The U-Turn and double Head Slam are two prime examples of attacks that have the potential to catch Barroth-aquainted hunters off-guard. Simply show a little extra caution during the Jade Barroth’s attacks.
