Key Attacks¶
Claw Combo - Much like an Azuros, the Volvidon will swipe in front of itself four or five times in pursuit of the Hunter.
Roll - The Volvidon has a habit of curling up and rolling, and this attack can go in any direction. If it goes back then the Volvidon will normally follow it with a Tongue Swipe.
Tongue Swipe - The Volvidon crouches on the floor and shoots its tongue forward, then swipes it sideways. Huge range.
Divebomb - Volvidon curls up and leaps into the air with the intent of landing on top of the hunter. Move as soona s you see this.
Spit - Volvidon curls its head back before launching a ball of spit at the hunter. Will paralyse on hit.
Steam Release - The Volvidon will start ‘bubbling’ before releasing a steam from its body, affecting any hunter neaby with the ‘soiled’ state (can’t use healing items).
Recommended Strategy¶
It’s a good idea to try and stay close to Volvidon, circling around him with a constant flurry of attacks and ensuring you dodge regularly.
If you let him get any distance between you and him then it is vital that you watch out for his Tongue, as it reaches out devestatingly quickly. Staying close to him means that this is less of a concern, but his rolls still come out incredibly quickly.
So again, attack once or twice then move, attack and move, but try and stay on top of the Volvidon. If he does move away then holster and run at him from the side from a wide angle to try and avoid a rather literal licking, and just focus on bearing down on the beast and dealing the damge when you have the chance.
