Description

Hands up if you wanted a weapon that’s two in one. As its name suggests, the Switch Axe can switch between two modes, Axe and Sword, at the touch of a button. Sword Mode deals more damage and benefits from special phial attachments, but is limited in usage, forcing hunters to switch modes to maintain a steady output.

Usage Tips

Fee Phial Fo Fum : When you create a Switch Axe you’ll notice that you have a Phial attribute to the right. This phial is a power boost that is active during Sword Mode and vary depending on the Switch Axe you have equipped and includes Power, Elemental, Paralysis and Dragon boosts.

Learn Transform Combos : It’s important to learn which moves you can link to a transform technique as to keep your Switch Axe combat flowing, and your damage constant.

Elemental Discharge Time : It’s always worth going for Elemental Discharge when you transform your sword, but only if you have the time. If you get the jump on the monster and they’re fresh out an attack or panting then launch into it; otherwise, avoid sticking around and move away.

Recommended Skills

The Evasion+ Skill is a good ability for the Switch Axe because evasion is very important for you. The Evasion skill adds invulnerable frames to the start of your dodge.

Sharpness is a handy skill to have as it ensures you’ll need to sharpen your weapon far less.

Earplugs are handy to have, just so that you never waste any Sword time should you transform as a monster roars.
