How to Complete the ‘Cultural Exchange’ Request¶
This request is given by Rondine the Trader found in the Buddy Plaza. She’ll give you this request once you’ve completed the urgent quest Monkey Wrench in Your Plans, which is accessible to you after completing four 3☆ Village Quests.
Rondine the Trader will ask you to fetch her some rare materials in exchange for a Submarine.
Where to Find Wisplanterns¶
Wisplanterns are obtained by harvesting materials from Shimmering Red Berry bushes. Shimmering Red Berry bushes are found across Shrine Ruins, and most of the gathering points are found in high areas that you’ll only be able to get to via wirebug. For more information on how to wirebug, head over to Wirebug Moves and Controls.
Below, you’ll find a screenshot of the map with the spawn points of the bushes marked by red ? marks. You can also access this map via the detailed map selection and then choosing Shimmering Red Berry in the Special Items section of the materials list.
Wisplanterns are a rare drop and most of the time you’ll harvest Firelanterns from the bushes. Remember, after a short while, the bushes will respawn and you can harvest them again, so don’t worry if you’ve not gotten the required amount of Wisplanterns the first go around.

Where to Find Boatshells¶
Boatshells are obtained by harvesting materials Oyster Beds. Oyster Beds are found across the Frozen Islands. They are found exclusively in the shallow waters, they also glow green so they’re fairly easy to spot.
Below, you’ll find a screenshot of the map with the spawn points of the Oyster Beds marked by grey ? marks. You can also access this map via the detailed map selection and then choosing Oyster Bed in the Special Items section of the materials list.
Boatshells are quite a rare drop and when you harvest Oyster Beds, the majority of what you pick up will be Raftshells. There are plenty of gathering points across the map and they also respawn, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble picking up the required amount.

Cultural Exchange Reward¶
Once you have three of each item, head back to Rondine the Trader to complete the quest. After you have talked to her, you’ll have access to a second Submarine slot for trading.
Speak to Rondine the Trader again to complete the quest.
