How to Unlock and Complete the Downtown Daredevil Challenge¶
Downtown Daredevil is a Challenge in Saints Row that will unlock after you complete the mission [Body of Evidence]. The Downtown Daredevil Challenge tasks you with completing three objectives:
- In a single-dive free fall (400 meters) in Lakeshore North.
- Backflip a Fer de Lance in Lakeshore South.
- Low-fly a helicopter without stopping (for 90 seconds) in Lakeshore North.
How to Perform a Single-Dive Free Fall for 400 Meters in Saints Row¶
To complete this objective you’ll need to more or less do what was required for the Terminal Velocity Challenge; grab some flying vehicle from the helipad at Saints HQ, fly as high as you can by holding / , then bail by pressing / . Fall as long as you dare and when your survival instincts kick in press / to deploy your Wingsuit. Only time spent falling without your Wingsuit deployed will count, so you’re pretty much playing a game of chicken with the ground… not that it matters much if you pancake yourself, as you’ll just respawn at the hospital. Video games! Still, a 400 meter free fall should be achievable without temporarily maiming yourself as long as you deploy as high as you can and wait until the objective’s progress bar pops up along the right side of the screen, which is your cue to Wingsuit to safety. Bail your aircraft over the park along the southeastern edge of the district, as it’s generally a bit lower than the rest of the district, especially by the lake.
How to Perform a Backflip in a Fer de Lance in Lakeshore South¶
Performing a backflip isn’t difficult with enough air time, all you need to do is get airborne (ideally by hitting a ramp) and when you’re in the air, simply hold the right analog stick either up or down . Find a Fer de Lance and a spot to perform a backflip can be a bit trickier, however.
Fortunately the JimRobs Venture provides both the Fer de Lance and a good ramp to use in Lakeshore South. You’ll need to steal a Fer de Lance as the 8th carjacking objective from an elevated estate looking down on the rest of Santo Ileso from the heights of Monte Vista. This Fer de Lance will, of course, spawn during the aforementioned carjacking event, but once the car is stolen and delivered to JimRobs a Fer de Lance will continue to spawn in the same spot for the rest of the game, allowing you to return and claim one for yourself.
Once you have a Fer de Lance of your own, you need a good ramp, and there are sadly few to be found in Lakeshore South. There is, however, one ramp at the edge of Badlands North that propels you over some water and into Lakeshore South, and you can use this ramp to perform the backflip. You’ll also find this ramp during the 9th carjacking JimRobs heist, which tasks you with stealing a Phoenix. You don’t actually need to use this ramp during the JimRobs carjacking event itself, but it does speed things up, and the same ramp can be used to perform a backflip with the Fer de Lance.
Secure yourself a Fer de Lance, then head to the promising ramp in Badlands North, after which hitting a backflip should be a trivial matter.
How to Low-Fly a Helicopter for 90 Seconds in Lakeshore North¶
Another easy task, all you need to do is take a helicopter (the Thompson that should be at the Saints HQ helipad after completing the Mission The Forge should suffice) and fly it somewhat low over Lakeshore North. A fine target for this is the park along the southeastern edge of the district, as you can fly low enough to increment this objective’s counter without having to worry about buildings or any other obstacles. There’s also plenty of room to turn without stopping, all you need to do is perform several lazy laps over the park and you’ll complete this objective.
