There are plenty of locations to visit during your journey in Sea of Stars, but one place that might confuse you a little bit is The Crypt. It will be a while before you’re able to reach this place, but considering it’s part of the main story, it’s pretty hard to miss. This page will focus on where to find the Crypt, as well as what the location is.

What is The Crypt in Sea of Stars?¶
The Crypt is a location that you will likely come across, as you explore during the main story. In fact, you will be told to investigate the Crypt as part of the main story, so you will be coming here anyway. So, what is The Crypt exactly? Well, if you didn’t know already, Sea of Stars was crowdfunded on Kickstarter and achieved a successful campaign. To commemorate some of the backer tiers, Sabotage Studios created an in-game location for them, called The Crypt.
As mentioned, you will find The Crypt during the course of the main story, after a major boss fight occurs. If you wish to find out exactly when, click the spoiler box above. Once you clear that fight, you will eventually reach a place called Settlers’ Island. It is here that you find the Crypt, which isn’t really all too important, in terms of actually contributing to the game itself. There is one chest inside the Crypt, though, so make sure you grab that while you’re there (listed below).

What Do Codes Do in The Crypt in Sea of Stars¶
When you first enter the Crypt, you will be greeted by the Cryptwalker, the NPC that runs the place. After the introduction, you can speak to him again and you will see an option to input a code. These codes will help you to find specific backers inside the locale, so they are simply there to cut down on checking each individual marker. These codes were sent out to the appropriate backer tiers, allowing them to easily find their spot in the Crypt, upon the game’s release. After inputting the code, a teleporter will be spawned in the same room, allowing you to go straight to the designated grave (highlight by sunlight hitting it).
