You will find plenty of content in Sea of Stars, some of which will include various minigames. One of the main minigames is called Wheels, but there are others, like fishing. Doing this has a few benefits in the game, like procuring food that you can then use to cook at a camp. You might also need to fish to finish a side quest or two. This page will talk about how to unlock fishing, as well as give tips and tricks to make fishing a lot easier.
How to Unlock Fishing in Sea of Stars¶
Thankfully, you don’t really have to do anything special in order to start fishing. The only thing you have to do is simply find a fishing spot, the first of which is found right after exiting the Forbidden Cavern, on Evermist Island. Enter the fishing spot, go to the end of the dock, and press the designated button to start fishing. You will find plenty of other spots as you go through the game, so make sure to keep a look out for them on your journey.
Tips to Make Fishing Easy in Sea of Stars¶
When you first start fishing, you might be a little confused as to what’s going on, especially if you catch one and hear the music going all crazy. To begin, whenever you cast your line out, it will always be at full blast, so it will go the full length of the lake. However, if you press the same button again, mid-cast, then the line will drop. You can also make the line go left or right, by moving the stick in that direction. You can see the shadows of the fish in the water, and you want to make your line land in their general area.
As the line lands, you should see a splash radius, and if a fish is within that radius, then they will likely come after it. Whenever the fish will bite your line, you will need to reel it in. However, you have to be a little cautious, as if you don’t do it right, the line will turn red and then eventually snap, making you lose your catch. What might be a little difficult to see at first is that when you’re reeling in a fish, there’s a lighter blue area.
This is the “safer” zone that you want to keep the fish in at all times, if possible. The line going red is usually a product of the fish being reeled in outside of the lighter blue zone. Should it happen, you want to stop reeling and wait a few moments, until the line returns to normal. As long as you keep reeling the fish in, you will eventually catch it. At that point, you have the option to either turn the fish into food, or release it. There is really nothing beneficial about releasing the fish, other than you’re able to catch it again.
It is possible to catch all of the fish at a single location, after which, you might think it’ll take a while for them to respawn. Well, you can just exit the lake/pond and re-enter to have all of the fish return. As said above, fishing is a great way to obtain some ingredients for some of the food you can create at camps, and it’s not too involved.
