Speaking to every NPC in a game like Sea of Stars is a good thing, as you never know when you’ll uncover shortcuts, free items, or even side quests. Side quests in Sea of Stars are a little odd, as there is no log that keeps track of them for you (they also aren’t officially named), so you will really need to speak with every single NPC. This page will focus on the Mole Painting side quest, like where to start it and how to complete it.
Where to Start the Mole Painting Side Quest¶
You will be able to start this short side quest after the events at Maelstrom Point. Once you do that, you will gain free reign of the world map (to an extent), since you now have a boat. Sail back to the Port Town of Brisk and head for the save point by the docks. If you look to the left of the save point, you will see a Molekin NPC standing there. Speak to them and they wish to be painted and wants to track down the painter.
Where to Find the Painter for the Mole Painting Side Quest¶
If you fully explored every location you’ve been to up until this point, you’ve likely already stumbled upon a painter. If not, then you need to head to Stonemasons Outpost, which is the town with all of the Molekin. To get there from Brisk, you will have to pass through Coral Cascades, which is easily accomplished by using the various geysers there to quickly get back to the top. From there, you can take the lift on the world map, straight to the town.
Once in the town, head towards the inn, but go to the level above it. You should see a door that is shut here, and there’s no way to open it. This is the painter’s house, but we need to find a way into it. Go into the house just to the left and look in the upper right corner of that room. There is a passageway that connects to the painter’s house, so take it and speak to the painter, who will leave immediately for Brisk. Return to Brisk, to the same spot where you found the initial NPC, and speak to the painter to finish the side quest. Your reward will be a Rainbow Conch.
