Khajiit are… for lack of a better description, cat-people. They hail from the deserts of Elsweyr and are generally considered untrustworthy, perhaps due to their affinity for thievery. They also talk in third person, which can’t help their negative stigma. Really, who does that?
Unfortunately, from a gameplay perspective they have little to offer. As befits cat-people they come armed with retractable claws and night vision. The former deal fifteen points of damage, which is rendered obsolete by most weapons early in the game (and vastly out-classed by late-game weapons that have been improved via Smithing). Even as far as unarmed attacks go, enchanted heavy gauntlets work just as well, should you need to bother. Their night vision is handy at times, but mostly because Bethesda for some reason significantly nerfed light-producing spells in Skyrim, and removed the ability to enchant gear with vision-enhancing enchantments. Still, Skyrim rarely gets so dark that you need a light source, so you can safely disregard that skill, too.
If you like the idea of playing a sneaky rogue with unique character aesthetics, the Khajiit may be for you. It’s unfortunate that the special abilities offer so little as you progress through the game, but a bow-wielding cat will always look cool.
