“When you gain access to the Koronus Expanse during Chapter 2 of Rogue Trader, you can unlock colonies. The first one that you will most likely come across is Janus, as the story will lead you there anyway. Colonies allow you to undertake projects to build up the settlement, and in turn reward you with various feats, weapons, armor, and much more. Unfortunately, you can’t complete every project due to some projects blocking others, so you’ll have to look at the rewards before you commit to that task. Fortunately, you can find out what projects to take by reading this guide.
How to Unlock the Janus Colony - Rogue Trader¶
At the start of Chapter 2, you’ll be in Footfall, and at some point, you’ll talk to the liege of the area, Vladaym Tocara. Exhaust his dialogue and you’ll find out about the food shortages due to Janus not supplying them anymore. This quest, World Shapers, will lead you to Janus, which is situated in the Telikos Epsilon system. You can find the system due north of Footfall, just past the Trinnitos system which has another colony you can unlock called Foulstone which is missable, so you may want to follow our Foulstone guide for that.
When you reach the Telikos Epsilon system, enter it, and head to the small planet in the southwest. This is Janus. Progress through the long storyline there, which will eventually unlock the colony. If this is your first colony, you’ll get a brief tutorial on how the system works, but in general, meet the requirements for the project, start it by selecting execute, and then wait for it to finish before starting the next project. You don’t have to be at the colony to access your projects due to there being a Colony Management screen which you can access by pressing the default key-bind .
