Cambridge Apartments Raider Stronghold

By
Nathan Garvin

Walkthrough for the Cambridge Apartments Raider Stronghold area, an unmarked area in Fallout 4.

An unmarked area along the southern end of Cambridge, you can find this Raider stronghold by heading south from Monsignor Plaza (or Ticonderoga, if it’s marked on your map) until you find a road running along the river. Follow this road southwest and it’ll run past a fortified bridge spanning the river and a brick building with a yellow “NOW LEASING!” sign out front, both of which will be to your left (south).

Exploring Cambridge Apartments Raider Stronghold

If the barricades and grisly trophies don’t make it clear enough that this is a Raider stronghold, the numerous, violent malcontents roaming about will. Most of your foes can be found around and upon two buildings to the north, but particularly a ruined building to the northeast with a rubble ramp (or rather, a ramp atop some rubble) leading up to the second storey. The opposition will be fierce, as the Raiders here aren’t just plentiful, but many of them are significantly leveled. Depending on your level, you could end up encountering several Raider Veterans here, which is virtually unprecedented this far north.

You are advised to take things slowly and fight safely - once you pass the barricades along the road, you may come under fire from multiple foes from various angles. Power Armor may come in handy here, as will picking off foes from afar. Those who aren’t killed off this way may be provoked into chasing you, and if they do so piecemeal, they can be more easily dispatched, while if they attack in a group, resort to explosives.

Once you’ve thinned out the ranks of your opponents, ascend the rubble ramp to reach the second floor of the northwestern building, climb a flight of stairs, then make your way across a scrap bridge to the northeast, which connects to another nearby building in the stronghold. Surmount several ramps until you reach a roof sporting a sassy red and white silo, near which you’ll find a button that’ll summon a horizontal lift.

When the lift arrives, board it, then press another button to send it across to the top of a building to the south. You’ll find another leveled Raider here, which is the only opposition standing between you and a Steamer Trunk on an upper floor. There’s also a bed up here, should you need to recover from the fight.

Cambridge Apartments Raider Stronghold has little else of interest to offer you, but there are several other areas surprisingly close by. If you haven’t lost your appetite for killing Raiders, you can cross the bridge to the southeast to find the [North End Apartments Raider Stronghold]. North of Cambridge Apartments Raider Stronghold (you’ll have to make your way west around the buildings, as a blue trailer truck blocks the road north) you can find [Greenetech Genetics], which can’t be explored until later in the game, and the [Kendall Parking Garage] to the east of [Greenetech Genetics]. Finally, if you continue west along the riverside road you’ll eventually reach the [C.I.T. Ruins], with the [Cambridge Office Building Raider Stronghold] being located roughly at the midway point between the two.
