Information about the various Jackpot radiant quests in Fallout 4.
Jackpot is a series of radiant quests given to you by PAM, the first of which will be assigned immediately after completing (and turning in) the quest Mercer Safehouse. Very similar to other radiant quests, a location will be chosen at random, which you’ll have to infiltrate in search of a DIA cache. What’s a DIA cache, you might ask? Well… it’s essentially an otherwise unobtainable loot closet that will open up when you approach. You don’t actually have to claim any of the loot to complete the quest, just getting close enough to expose it will suffice.
As a radiant quest, the location where the DIA cache is located is random, but there are three Jackpot locations in the game, which will be randomly assigned:
- [Hub 360]
- [Medford Memorial Hospital]
- [Pinnacle Highrise]
With many radiant quests, the challenges you’ll face are determined by each location, but which Jackpot, that’s not really applicable. All three target locations are swarming with Super Mutants, likely including leveled variants. [Medford Memorial Hospital] is probably the tamest of the three locations, but even it is swarming with Super Mutant Suiciders, so power armor may be advised if you find yourself otherwise outgunned. Of course, nothing says you have to fight at all - if you can sneak past your foes (perhaps with the aid of Chameleon legendary armor and/or Stealth Boys, you’ll access the DIA cache just as well as if you’d fought your way through.
After accessing the cache, return to PAM for your reward. This will include XP and Caps, as well as a Covert Sweater Vest, a garment of dubious utility.
Unlocking Ballistic Weave¶
While a fine source of XP and wealth, the real draw of the Jackpot quests is the chance to yield Ballistic Weave. After each Jackpot quest, check in with Tinker Tom, and if he mentions Ballistic Weave being part of the last cache you found, congrats! You can now craft this armor mod at any Armor Workbench. It can be added to select clothing, giving stupendous DMG Resist (physical and energy); with four ranks in Armorer you can potentially add +110 DMG Resist to a single article of clothing. Put it on a hat and some clothing that can be worn under armor (Military Fatigues, for example) and you’ll have likely tripled your overall defenses, virtually rendering traditional armor moot, save for any mods (like Dense or Ultra-Light Build) and legendary properties they may have.
Outside of Power Armor, nothing will give you more survivability than Ballistic Weave. Well worth tangling with a few Super Mutants.
