Horizon Forbidden West

How to Find & Defeat the Dry Yearn Rebel Outpost

By
Staci Miller

This is everything you need to know about how to find and defeat the Dry Yearn Rebel Outpost in Horizon Forbidden West.

How to Find the Dry Yearn Rebel Outpost

The Dry Yearn Rebel Outpost is near the Relic Ruins of the same name and due to its position against a mountain, there’s only one way in.

You should be level 15 before taking on this Outpost, but it’s doable on less.

You should make sure you’re at least Level 15 before attempting this Outpost according to the question instructions, but it’s possible to take it on when lower. It really depends on your tactics.

How to Defeat the Dry Yearn Rebel Outpost

The first thing you’ll likely come across is the Ravager at the front of the camp. This is a pretty hard-to-defeat machine that’s hard to sneak around, though if you go in all guns blazing, you’ll bring down all of the Rebel Soldiers on you.

The best thing to do is hide in the tall grass that’s around and attempt to take it down with a Silent Strike. Once you’ve done that, you can move on to the actual Rebels.

There are many roaming around the outside of the camp on machines. As with most Outposts, you’ll have two objectives: find and kill the Rebel Leader (mandatory) and kill the soldiers (optional).

Many of the soldiers are on the outside of the camp and can be quite hard to sneak through, but you can try. If you want, you can simply take them all out first to ensure they can’t bother you later, as they will follow you into the Outpost if given the chance and try to protect their leader.

In the middle of the camp, there will be a platform you can grapple up to find the Rebel Leader — however, he’ll be very quick to knock you back off if you don’t choose the right time to go up there. Either pick your moment carefully and go up to engage in melee-style battle with him or hit him with arrows from the ground.

This is the leader of the Rebels.

He does have a very large and powerful weapon you’ll have to avoid. If you’re fighting from the ground, it’s especially important you take out the Rebel Soldiers first. If you don’t, there’s a very high chance that they’ll come and get you instead.

When you’ve finished off the Rebel Leader, it’s just like any other Outpost. You can finish off the place entirely by killing the other Rebels or you can take on the mandatory task of leaving the area without doing so. Aloy will remark to herself that the Rebels will abandon the place now.

Much like the other Outposts, there’s no specific reward for defeating this one although you can loot the leader and get some Soldier Tags and Metal Shards. There are also chests littered around the camp where you can find resources, so it’s worth checking them out before you vacate the area.
