Following Guerrilla Games’ acclaimed open-world RPG, Horizon: Zero Dawn, comes The Frozen Wilds DLC released in November, 2017. Set before the final battle of Horizon’s main campaign, The Frozen Wilds takes you into unfamiliar Banuk territory to discover new areas, new characters and quests, and a new horde of deadly machines. A new threat has emerged beyond the northern mountains, and Aloy is set on solving the mystery of the Daemons.
Before you can begin this journey into the unknown, you must first download and install the add-on in order to activate the ‘Into The Frozen Wilds’ quest line. The game itself doesn’t initiate a prompt that tells you how to do this – you’re just kind of left to stumble across it by yourself – but there are a few things you need to do first in preparation. You need to have progressed as far as ‘A Seeker At The Gates’ in the main campaign, and you should probably be between Lv 30-40 at least. Completing the main quest line and racking up a good amount of side quests should get you there pretty easily.
Once you’ve done this, a new NPC will appear on the map, but the little blue exclamation mark above their head won’t show up until you’re nearby. At the Daytower fort, between the mountains and the desert, is a man named Ohtur. Speak with him to hear about the deadly tales of a place called the Cut (the new area clouded with fog on the map) to activate the new quest line, ‘Into The Frozen Wilds’. This will grant you access to the brand new DLC, and you’ll have the freedom to explore the Cut as you please!
In this guide we aim to cover the complete DLC quest line and side quests, including introducing the Daemon infected machines and where to find all of the collectibles.
