76. Common Loon

An aquaphilic bird, search for these on the shores of Flat Iron Lake, Lannahechee River, Owanjila or Bluewater Marsh. Various types of loon often travel together and have overlapping ranges.

77. Pacific Loon

An aquaphilic bird, search for these on the shores of Flat Iron Lake, Lannahechee River, Owanjila or Bluewater Marsh. Various types of loon often travel together and have overlapping ranges.

78. Yellow-Billed Loon

An aquaphilic bird, search for these on the shores of Flat Iron Lake, Lannahechee River, Owanjila or Bluewater Marsh. Various types of loon often travel together and have overlapping ranges.

81. Mule

Domesticated beasts of burden, they can be found on farms and ranches throughout New Hanover. Specifically, we found one at a farm northwest of Emerald Ranch.

82. American Muskrat

A common rodent that infests the shores of most rivers, large and small. Keep an eye out for them along the Dakota River, the Little Creek River and the Kamassa River. They’re fairly aggressive, so there’s a chance you don’t have to worry about them fleeing from you as much as you’ll have to be wary of them biting at your heels.

83. Baltimore Oriole

One of this game’s many tweeters - any of an assortment of small birds that are interchangeable for gameplay purposes. They’re incredibly flighty (pun intended) so you’ll likely need to use binoculars to study them, and perhaps just to spot them. As a general rule, when you’re hunting and you see birds flying overhead, take aim at them and try to shoot some down.

Can be found along the Dakota River and along the coast near the Van Horn Trading Post.

Another good spot to hunt for small birds like this is Fort Brennand, which is located north of the Bluewater Marsh, in a bend on the Kamassa River. Enter the interior of the fort, be patient, and look to the skies, as you can find a variety of birds flying around overhead.

84. Hooded Oriole

A rare oriole, these particular birds are typically only found in West Elizabeth. We had some luck hunting them near Riggs Station.

86. Coastal Horned Owl

The “coastal” part of their name gives a clue where to look. In this case, we had luck searching for them along the coast of the Lannahechee River, southwest of Saint Denis. As nocturnal predators, you’ll need to hunt for them at night.

87. Great Horned Owl

A nocturnal hunter, while they can be found throughout New Hanover, you’ll need to hunt them at night, in an area where there’s plenty of small prey for them, and most importantly, where it’s easy to see them. The Heartlands fulfills all these roles, so travel there at night and keep your eyes to the sky. They’re somewhat rare, so you’ll need to be patient.
