This mission begins immediately after the previous mission and you’ll be asked by Hosea to track down John with the aid of Javier. Once you gain control, follow Javier and you’ll be taught how the horse’s stats work which are in fact similar to Arthur’s. If the horse is unclean, you’ll need to either brush it or take it through some water or you risk damaging it’s Health Core. Likewise, tapping the Gallop button will drain the Stamina Gauge and then the Core once depleted, be sure to hold the button in to recover some of the gauge before galloping again.

You’ll also learn how the Cinematic Camera works, this will shift your perspective into a more movie like view and is helpful in certain missions to get a bigger picture of the area. Once Javier comes to a stop and decides its best to continue on foot, you’ll be taught how weapon loadouts work from your horse. Arthur will not carry all the weapons on him at the same time, instead they’re stored in your saddle and you can change the loadout by holding the [L1]/[LB] button while standing next to it. For now, take the Sawed-off Shotgun and continue to follow Javier until you meet up with the stricken John.

As you make your way back to the horses, a pack of wolves begin to attack. If you want to obtain the Gold Medal for this mission then you’ll have to ensure you’re not attacked by any of the wolves while killing them all with at least 80% accuracy. Take aim at the wolves as they make their way down and headshot the first as soon as the reticule changes to red. You should be able to hit a second wolf before they converge on you, at which point you’ll need to dodge. You can do this by locking on with the [L2]/[LT] button and pressing the [Square]/[X] button to dive to the side, this will prevent you from taking damage and finish off the last wolf. Once you saddle up and begin the ride back, a further four wolves will attack. Stay on the horse and take aim at their heads, only shooting if you’re sure you will hit them to preserve you accuracy. Following the defeat of these wolves, continue your journey back to the Camp and get John the assistance he needs. For completing the mission you will unlock Just a Scratch.
