The Chaos Spawn is the first boss battle in Rogue Trader that players will encounter as part of the Prologue. While it’s not too mechanically difficult, it does have a secret mechanic that can throw you off guard if you’re not careful. On this page we’ll guide you through how to defeat the Chaos Spawn as one of the game’s first hurdles.
How to Beat the Chaos Spawn Boss in Rogue Trader¶
The main strategy to beat the Chaos Spawn boss is to manage the additional mobs around it. The Chaos Spawn has a wounds regeneration skill that kicks in when the boss loses around 30 odd wounds, with it consuming one of its allies to gain around 39 wounds or so back. Failure to deal with the other enemies will mean the boss has plenty of allies to feed on to wreck your party.
Best Positions For Abelard, Argenta, and Idira¶
So, the ideal strategy to beat the Chaos Spawn boss is to defeat the enemies first. To make this challenge easier, we recommend the following:
- Place Abelard on the right side of the Upper Deck
- Place Argenta on the left side of the deck
- Have Abelard run up to the closest enemy and melee attack them, then charge close enough to the mob down the stairs.
- From there, have Argenta attempt to burst fire at as many enemies as possible at an angle, and run it again with Run and Gun.
- Hopefully, you only have a few more enemies to deal with, meaning your player character and Idira can mop up the rest.
- Idira should have a staff that grants her a heroic power, which can cleave any closer enemies together or use the general lightning staff skill to kill an enemy off.
Don’t Touch This - Trophy¶
With all that setup done, you will likely only have one enemy left and the boss. On your next turn, have the next ally remove any straggling enemies, then focus on the boss. Idira should be stacking her Expose Weakness debuff on the Chaos Spawn to make it easier to chug the boss down in the upcoming rounds, while Argenta, the MC, and Abelard are your main damage sources against it. Feel free to use Idira’s dodge improvement skill on the character getting hit the most and Abelard’s Navy Officer powers to make you all the more tanky.
With that said, just continue to harass and expose weaknesses whenever possible, then pop those stacks for a big nuke window for the remaining turns, and you’re good.
You should be awarded the Don’t Touch This trophy if you do it correctly.
