When it comes to crafting the very best equipment, you’ll want to get your hands on the best materials. This is where Pale materials come into play, these are by far the best quality you can find, and you’ll only come across them in very specific locations. This page will give you a detailed breakdown of all nine Pale materials and where you can harvest them throughout the Western Frontier.
Pale Night Leaf Branch Location¶
You’ll need Night Leaf Branches for all of your Longbow crafting needs, and this first Pale material can be tricky to find if you don’t know where to look. Head to the Rising Spires sub-region in Kinglor Forest and go to the southwest. Go to the mountains and fly to the highest area to find not only an Ikran Gear Basket but also Pale Night Leaf Branches. If you’re looking for the best quality, you’ll need to return here during a Thunderstorm.
Pale Canopy Root Location¶
While remaining in Kinglor Forest, head for the Spinner’s Circle sub-region located to the northeast. You should find an area named Shadow Hollow and just to the east of it is a large tree (which is shown on the map too). At the bottom of this tree is an opening, go inside and look up to your left to spot the Pale Canopy Root. To harvest this at its best quality, make sure there is a Hurricane in the area.
Pale Vineshroom Location¶
There’s one final Pale material in the Kinglor Forest, which will be close on the northern end of the Rising Spires area. Look for The Threaded River name just northeast of the Crooked River. If you have the Stone Refuge Na’vi camp, then you should fast travel to that. A little northwest of the camp is a Y-shaped great vine, so look underneath it to find the Pale Vineshroom. Note that you have to use your Ikran to grab this, as you cannot get it on foot. Make sure you don’t have a weapon equipped and slowly approach it, until you see your character’s arm go up, which is when they will grab it.
Pale Fire Seed Location¶
Make your way to the Upper Plains and fast travel to the Crossed Arches Na’vi Camp in The Celebration Valley. Use the fire nearby to keep resting until the weather changes to a Thunderstorm (you must have this weather for this material), and then fly down to the plains below the massive arches. Look for Zakru Falls on the map, and then search around here for groups of Fire Seeds, many of which will be Exquisite. You’ll need to be patient now; you must have a bolt of lightning strike one of the seeds for it to be Pale. Note that the Pale Fire Seed will still appear as a normal Fire Seed when you use your Na’vi Sense, but the name will appear when you hover the cursor over the item and the name pops up.
However, that method is a little bit annoying, as you need to wait for a Thunderstorm and for the lightning to strike the Fire Seed. There is an easier way to get these, though, with all you need being any Shotgun and some Storm Ammo. Head to the same spot as above and locate the Fire Seeds, then strike them with any weapon to open them up. Once the seeds are revealed, switch to your Shotgun and Storm Ammo, then shoot the seed. If done right, you can see the seed visibly turn into a Pale Fire Seed, after which, you can harvest it like normal.
Pale Plains Nectar Location¶
Your next destination is the Shattered Bridge sub-region of the Upper Plains, you’ll find this to the northeast of the region. If you look on your map, you’ll spot the Reconnaissance Ancestor Skill, fly over to this location and grab it if you don’t already have it. While remaining in this cave, look to the southeast wall and you’ll find Pale Plains Hives where you can pocket some Nectar. If you wish to harvest this at its best quality, you’ll need to wait for a Hurricane in the area.
Pale Vine Fiber Location¶
The search for Pale Vine Fiber will take you to the Mother of Rivers sub-region, which is located to the north of the region. You should find the First Zakru area to the north of the large lake, and to the east of it is a small grassy plateau you can land on (there is a Sarentu Totem here). Go inside the cave here and look up, you should be able to spot the Pale Vine Fiber, which you must shoot down to harvest. Like with many of the Pale materials, you’ll need to wait for a Hurricane in the area to harvest this at its best quality.
Pale Canyon Reed Location¶
Go to the Clouded Forest and head to the Cradling Pines sub-region, which is located to the east. Carver’s River runs just south of the RDA base you escaped from when you first came to this region, and to the east of it, you’ll spot a Bellsprig on the map. Head to this location and you’ll see a large rocky outcrop, but beware, a fearsome Thanatos roams around this area. Once it’s safe, look at the bottom of this outcrop to find some Pale Canyon Reeds that you can harvest, of which you will obtain a better quality if there is a Hurricane in the area.
Pale Mudgem Shell Location¶
You’ll find the Stone Cloud Valley sub-region in the center of the Clouded Forest; this is your next destination. In the middle of this sub-region is the Crying Giant mountain, which you cannot miss, and on the top, near the Tarsyu Network Ancestor Skill is a lake. If you go to the south of this lake, you’ll find some land and on it, the Pale Mudgem Shells that you’re in search of. If you want to harvest this at its best quality, you’ll need to return during a Thunderstorm.
Pale Pod Fruit Location¶
Make your way to the Cradling Pines, located to the east of the Clouded Forest for the next Pale material. To the north of this sub-region are two large mountains, named the Stone Sentinels on your map. Fly up to the eastern mountain and near the top you’ll find the Pale Pod Fruit you’re searching for. As with the majority of these materials, you’ll be able to harvest it at its best quality if there is a Hurricane in the area.
Pale Coronis Egg Location¶
The final Pale material can be found in the Crimson Great Wood sub-region, located to the far north of the Clouded Forest. To the northwest of this area is the Tangled Heart, a massive tree that you can fly to the top of to find a Tarsyu Sapling. Climb the branches and if you look carefully, you’ll spot the Pale Coronis Eggs you can now harvest, and should there be a Hurricane in the area, you’ll be able to gather them at their best quality.
