Manuscripts are collectible books that help your party learn new moves by granting free Skill Points. These books are found all across the game and are easily missable unless you know where to look. Many are hidden behind quests, and you will need to complete the game two times to get them all. The guide below goes over what manuscripts are and where to find them for each party member.

What Do Manuscripts Do?¶

Manuscripts are unique items in Rebirth that are found throughout the world. Each party member has their own manuscript, and when used, they increase SP by 10 points, allowing you to buy more folio abilities and level up your weapons. You will earn manuscripts by shopping at Moogle Emporiums, completing quests, and finishing side activities. Each character has a total of 16 manuscripts; their names and locations can be found in each character’s individual section below. There are 50 manuscripts in easy/normal mode, while the other 62 can only be obtained in hard mode by beating certain battles. There are a total of 112 manuscripts in all, and only players who do two playthroughs of the game can earn them all.

In easy/normal mode, all manuscripts will become available in Chapter 13. In hard mode, you will be able to unlock all manuscripts once you reach Chapter 12. Keep in mind that you will need to unlock each region’s Moogle Emporium before you can shop there. This is done by completing Mogstool minigames. Once opened, you can use the Moogle Medals you gather by smashing crates throughout the world to pay for manuscripts. Each Moogle Emporium has a different stock. Additionally, many side quests won’t unlock until you reach Chapter 12, barring you from collecting some of the manuscripts.
