Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

The Pursuit of Perfection Quest Guide

By
Shane Williams

The Pursuit of Perfection is one the side quests available in the "Gongaga Region" iconGongaga Region. It’ll require you to hunt down Draconite Deposit so Izo can improve Barret’s Weapon. On this page, we’ll provide you with the necessary tips to find defeating the "Daggerwing" iconDaggerwings.

Izo cracks on with the weapon crafting.

I’ve been striving to create the greatest weapon that ever was, but despite my best efforts, I’ve yet to make any meaningful progress. There’s an essential element I’m missing, the seed of inspiration-but I know it’s out there! I just need something or someone to help me grasp it.

Starting The Pursuit of Perfection Side Quest

The Pursuit of Perfection Side Quest will become available once you’ve reached the Gongaga Region in Chapter 9. Accept the quest via the noticeboard and then speak with the Weaponsmith who can be found in Izo’s Smithery which is located to the southeast of Midriver Isle Tower. He would like to create Barret a new weapon, but this will require a specific material, so he requests that you track down these materials.

To begin, follow the path along to the south and enter the nearby shed and grab the Draconite Map from the box.

Head to this location on the map (left), and interact with eight draconite nodes. (right)

Find the Draconite Deposits

You’ll now want to press DualSense-DPad-Left to bring up the map and then follow the stream to the west to reach a Draconite Deposit. Clear out the Daggerwings by switching over to Barret and unleashing Maximum Fury or alternatively striking it with wind-based spells. Once the enemies have been cleared out, interact with the Draconite nodes until you’ve collected 8 (most of these can be found by climbing the nearby rope) and then deliver them to Izo. After some time has passed, the "Fafnir Rifle" iconFafnir Rifle (which focuses on increasing "Magic Attack" iconMagic Attack) will be in your hands.
