At the expense of every other stat except Resistance, the Sorcerer does indeed have fearsome Magic. Whether or not it’s worth it is up to you. The Sorcerer is the closest thing the game has to a pure mage, yet doesn’t have access to Tomefaire. How disappointing. Vengeance is still a pretty great skill, however it’s a bit lost on your allies since you ideally want to keep them healed up, and letting a Sorcerer run around with low HP to abuse Vengeance is a very risky strategy (it can work).
Bowbreaker is a good skill to pick up if a unit you want to make a flying unit is capable of reclassing into Sorcerer just to grab it and then reclass back. Just make sure you protect the Sorcerer after they have done what they need to do, they are quite squishy and will go down easily if not watched out for. And they will repay you by burning things to the ground.
Sorcerers, like Dark Mages, can make use of Nosferatu, a dark tome.
